Bob & Bonnie Martin (22598)
North/South Dakota State Directors
We hope all Rushmore Roamers enjoyed the Holiday Season, even though this year will undoubtedly be remembered for years to come as the snow and cold weather affected every mainland state in the country. We are near our daughter’s home in Jacksonville, Florida, and awoke to 22 degrees Christmas morning! Don’t laugh, as this made for a very chilly day in Florida. But we were more than happy to have avoided the -50 wind chill and blizzards at our home in Mitchell, South Dakota.
Now, with an eye to the future, we want to give you information on our first chapter rally of 2023, at Fort Robinson State Park (near Crawford, Nebraska ). With arrival June 27 and departure June 30, it is important you make your camping reservations soon as they accept reservations for our time frame beginning on December 29, 2022. The Red Cloud campground is the only one with full hookups and 50amp electricity. The Soldier Creek campground, which offers 20/30 amps and water (at some sites) is also available. Check out the cancellation policy and make your reservation as soon as you can. Also, the chapter is offering a $40.00 rally fee credit, per coach, for members attending the rally. There are a lot of activities and things to see, such as a ride in an authentic stagecoach, and a lazy river float in a tube, as well as a visit to the museum, the horse vet clinic, and other historic buildings. This fort is where the US Army raised many of their horses in taming the west. Be sure to google https://visitnebraska.com>crawford to learn more about the park. Camping reservations should be made through www.reserveamerica.com.
We look forward to seeing many of you on June 27. If you would like to attend the Post Playhouse performance (Clue the Musical), please let us know as soon as possible so we can make the reservations. Tickets are $25.00 per person and will be added on to your rally fee. All other options will be booked upon your arrival, such as a hayrack breakfast, a hayrack ride steak cookout, and a chuck wagon dinner (buffalo stew).
