Minnesota State Directors
Greetings from the US Canadian Border, from our home we look across the lake to Canada. We are happy and thrilled to be the newly appointed Minnesota State Directors.
Our “unseasonably” mild winter has made us yearn for spring and the start of our RV Season. However, we all know how mother nature can change things fast! At times in January, our good friends in Tennessee had days when their temperatures were cooler than ours were!
Our spring travel starts with Newmar Kountry Klub’s special event trip to Washington, DC as assistant hosts, so as things go, I would not be surprised if we get one late blast of snow about the time we need to head out for DC in early April.
May will open the start of Minnesota’s RV season, our first event will be our Minnesota Loon’s Chapter Rally, May 13-16 at the St. Cloud Campground & RV Park – St. Cloud, Minnesota. This is also the chapter’s annual meeting, and we look forward to discussing plans for the chapter with the new Minnesota Loons officers. Events planned include touring the Charles Lindbergh House and Museum in Little Falls, Stearns County History Museum, games, and some sponsored/included meals. Join us, there is never a shortage of food, fun and great conversation. Details can be found on the Kountry Klub’s Calendar page.
The Minnesota State Rally will be held June 27 – 30th in Grand Rapids, Minnesota at the new Two Rivers Campground. A visit to the Forest History Centre is planned to give us a taste of the northern Minnesota logging and forestry industry. We will explore the heart of the iron ore industry with a short road trip to Hibbing, Minnesota, and a tour of the Grey Hound Bus Museum, visit mine view in the sky and if time allows see the Minnesota Museum of Mining. Watch for more details on this interesting event.
Of course, we are looking forward to the International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado July 27 – August 3. Laurie & I have been busy planning some special event day excursions to Colorado Springs as well as hosting some of those tours. If you haven’t already checked out what’s going on at the International Rally be sure to do so.
After a few weeks home to relax and enjoy summer in Minnesota, we head out on the Grand Circle Caravan tour September 2nd – 30th. We are excited to be official Co-hosts for this event! Being away during this time means we will miss the Region Four Rally September 10th-14th in Cuba City, Wisconsin, but I’m sure it will be a great time with Regional Directors Paul & Judy Swing.
Fall brings great RV weather to Minnesota and it’s a time of year we look forward to, campfires and warm cozy nights. Instead of putting the RV in storage or “winterizing” it in late fall, we are hoping to be able to spend more time in a warmer climate and do a little winter RV exploring in the southern states.
We look forward to seeing the friends we have made in our travels with the Kountry Klub and look forward to expanding that list in the seasons to come.
