Hawaii Aloha Aires Chapter – Presidents
We had a wonderful cruise of the Inside Passage of Alaska with some fellow chapter members as well as new friends and old. I think camaraderie is the primary reason to belong to the Newmar Kountry Klub. This summer it seems the only place to escape the heat (especially here in south Texas where it’s been over 100 since June – August) is to go to Alaska or Hawaii. Hard to imagine that we’ll soon be complaining about the cold of winter, but our chapter Hawaiian Rally on February 6-17, will have temperatures in the 70’s. So, think about registering to join us. Just go to the website’s Klub Calendar for easy registration.
Our annual meeting will be in October at the International Rally. Check the schedule for meeting room and date/time. Our treasurer will be resigning at that time so we will have elections for vice president and treasurer. If you would like to be on the ballot, please email George at gjamesusaf@gmail.com. We will also be discussing plans for the destination rally in 2025. Maui may not be ready for visitors, but we could go to Honolulu on Oahu to visit the Arizona Memorial, Punchbowl National Cemetery, Waikiki, luaus, pineapple farms; or to Hawaii Island to see the active volcano, manta rays, the largest cattle ranch in the U.S., coffee plantations. Hawaii has so much to offer.
Perhaps we should cruise around all the islands and just see a little bit of each. Let your imagination run wild and come prepared to share your ideas. Your last chance to register for the Kauai rally will be at that time so we can pay deposits to Captain Andy for our fabulous sunset dinner cruise to the Napali Coast and our front row seats for the Polynesian Fire Show and dinner on Valentine’s Day. Can you imagine a better way to celebrate the “day of love” than on the beautiful Garden Isle? Would anyone like to have us arrange a “renewal of wedding vows” for that day?
Remember National Indoor RV has generously offered to store your coach at their facility in Las Vegas while you are in Kauai, and you can have service done while you are on vacation. NIRV is planning a welcome dinner for those taking advantage of this great deal. All the major airlines have direct flights into Lihue (capital of Kauai), especially from Las Vegas which Hawaiians call the 9th Island.
George has made arrangements with our condo management company at Waipouli Beach Resort to offer discounted condo rates. Please check out their website (www.kauaiexclusive.com/waipouli-beach-resort-main) for available condos and contact Jenna (jenna@kauaiexclusive.com) 808-652-8849 to make reservations. Kauai Exclusive is also offering concierge services for booking excursions. Contact Darshan at 808-635-0963 or concierge@kauaiexclusive.com and tell her you are with the Aloha Aires group. They will pair up attendees with similar interests, such as ATV’s or deep sea fishing. Waipouli Beach Resort is centrally located on the east shore of Kauai so this will be the central gathering point. There are great grills around the pool, so we can have some cookouts. There are a multitude of activities available: relaxing on the beach, snorkeling, sightseeing and a tour of Waimea Canyon (the Grand Canyon of the Pacific), golf, hiking, zipline, horseback riding, kayaking the Wailua River, scuba diving, botanical gardens, historic plantations, Koloa rum tasting, and our favorites: inner tubes through the irrigation tunnels of the old sugar cane plantation and walking through the orchard of the Gaylord Plantation picking fruit … the opportunities are endless.
