Mary & John Knight (20735)
West Virginia Traveling Mountaineers – Presidents
Arrived at our winter site in Fort Myers a few weeks after hurricane Ian came through. The beach areas are destroyed and much of it closed to public access. Luckily, our resort is a few miles inland and suffered little damage. Some of our neighbor’s houses suffered lost roof tiles and siding but no one is homeless. Facilities are back to normal and the regulars are out playing pickleball every morning.
On arrival, our rear slide would not extend and it turned out that the drive shaft was broken. Newmar says this is rare, but this is our second time so it is not rare for us. The parts department supplied the correct items after I sent a picture of the broken pieces. A local machine shop drilled out the rusted broken piece and I completed the repair in a week. We can now get to the rear closet and retrieve Mary’s sewing projects. Can also get on with our preparations for Christmas.
By the time you read this the holidays will have come and gone, and we will all be looking forward to the spring and the start of another rally season. We will be at the West Virginia State Rally and at International later in the year. So now is the time to think of our chapter rally. If anyone has suggestions, please let us know. Happy New Year to you all. We can be reached by email: svalgoma@yahoo.com.
