Bill & Beth White (20471)
West Virginia State Directors
Assuming you have been following our home construction saga, we are pleased to report that we have doors, drywall and a fireplace! Things are looking up. Many of the changes occurred while we were attending the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri. It was wonderful to be outside of the RV garage in a moving RV after being cooped up for months. It was even better to enjoy the company of old friends and to find some new ones while we were traveling.
On the way to the rally, we made a pit stop in Georgetown, Kentucky and had dinner with Ralph & Nancy Dennis, past Kentucky State Directors. We had such a good time, we did it again on the return trip. They are doing well and said to pass along their greetings.
We volunteered to get to the rally early so Bill could help with the refreshment cart and Beth could help register the participants. Being involved makes every rally better. It’s amazing how many wonderful people you meet and how small the world really is. The Newmar Techs, as usual, did a wonderful job of addressing a couple of small issues with our London Aire. What a great service! The week went really fast, and we are already looking forward to Pueblo next year. We were sad to see Ron & Wanda retire, but we know that we are going to be in good hands with Duane & Laurie at the helm.
On the way home, we stopped at Costco and put some more money into circulation. We only have until November 11 to buy replacements for items we lost in the fire. Strolling the aisles and looking for things that we used to own is daunting. We purchased new TVs and mounts, sound bars, a nativity set and several other items for the new house. It’s a good thing we pull our pickup.
Since we had so much travel time, we started planning our 2024 West Virginia State Rally. We discussed the idea of having a Festival Rally over Labor Day weekend, to many of the rally attendees and got a positive response. We’re not sure what excited them the most, the low cost, the various festivals, or the traditional ramp dinner at our new home. Whatever the case may be, we took the plunge and are sponsoring a three-festival rally over the 2024 Labor Day Weekend at Cousin Eddie’s RV Park in Jane Lew. The activities will include: the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival, the Jackson’s Mill Jubilee and the Jane Lew Fireman’s Arts and Crafts Show. This will be a low cost rally with only a camping cost of $135.00 and an extra $15.00 per coach rally fee for a total of $150.00 per coach. Look for our announcement on the Klub Calendar. We will provide more detail in future columns.
