Chuck & Michelle Steenwyk (20036)
Region Six Directors
FALL is upon us already in the north!! Apples, gourds, and pumpkins are being harvested and sold in anticipation of seasonal baking and decorating. The beautiful green leaves on the trees are changing to a colorful array of colors up here in Michigan! We feel very blessed up here to be able to experience all the changes in landscape and produce options during the four seasons Michigan has to offer.
During the entire month of August, you would have found us at the Hudsonville Community Fair. Chuck has been on the board for over 20 years now! We were extremely busy setting up the barns and exhibits in several of the buildings. During the week of the fair (August 22 – 27) Chuck was on the parking committee, while our son Brad who is on the board also, focused on the commercial booth space area and keeping the fairgrounds clean.
After the fair was over, once again, Brad and I headed up to Mitchell State Park in Cadillac, Michigan to camp with family and friends for the Labor Day weekend (we had about 60 people in our group). Chuck joined us on Thursday afternoon. During this camping trip the men always cook breakfast and dinner on the blackstones or over the fire. The ladies and older kids do the clean-up. The men have the menu all planned out, so it is a fun relaxing time for all. We went golfing, bike riding. This year Brad has purchased an electric bike to ride around Lake Cadillac (8.3 miles). We had SeaDoos and boats on the lake and played lots of board & card games!
The Newmar Kountry Klub Alaskan Cruise was AMAZING!!! Thank you to our hosts Linda & Dale Feece along with our SkyMed travel agent Peggy Shafer. WOW what a GREAT cruise! The sights and excursions were so beautiful and fun, and the food was out of this world. We were able to get close to and see some beautiful pieces of BLUE icebergs just after they had come off the glaciers. The ship’s captain, Captain Leo, was great at getting us the best views and as close to things as possible. (iceberg pic) I was also able to get up close to a mature bald eagle! (bald eagle pic). An added bonus was that we were able to spend time with our fellow NKK members from several regions on the cruise. After this experience we are now looking forward to the NKK Eastern Caribbean Cruise in February of 2024!
We are excited to announce that STEVE & CARA SUE KRAUS (25501) have been appointed as the new KENTUCKY STATE DIRECTORS!! Congratulations to both of you!! We are looking forward to working with them and seeing where they will lead the state of KENTUCKY!
We are planning to attend the Region Five Rally with Region Directors Gary & Wanda Smith in October. It is always interesting to experience another region’s food and rally activities. We know that we will be seeing many people we have already met along the way and meeting lots of new members and expanding our friend base during the rally. We encourage everyone to branch out and visit any region and attend any rally that has availability!!
Safe Travels To ALL!!
