Michigan State Directors
Well, here we are already writing about our summer season. Many of us have rallies in the books already, and for us northern people spring was a slow start, cooler than normal April and the start of May.
It is fun to see the events everyone has planned and attend rallies again for the season. For those of us that didn’t go south or just decided to winter in the north. Looks to be a busy summer for a lot of the Newmar Family. We have signed up for a handful of rallies and then are planning another vacation with family, friends and maybe just some other attractions for the summer. I plan on attending a few old tractor events and a few rides in the countryside where you see lots of things at 10 MPH that we normally don’t see rushing by on the interstate at Plus 60 mph.
So, I needed to get my 1949 JD A out and check it over so we could do a little plowing and riding and just enjoy the world around us at a slower pace. If you have interest in that sort of thing, look into 50 years of Farming Progress held in Rantoul, Illinois. Great event for some of us old tractor and farm equipment people. Just bring your golf cart, you can’t walk it because there’s too much going on and too much distance to cover. They do have rentals available to you there. Sign up early, dry camping is available also.
So back to the important stuff, rallies and meeting people, we are always on an adventure and those we meet along the way bring joy into our life. When you see a Newmar owner, make sure you talk to them, invite them in if they are not part of the family. Attend rallies wherever you plan to travel to, and of course be involved as a volunteer, host a rally, ask for help from chapter officers and state directors. Plan something easy, learn from others, it’s not that hard.
Safe travels, see you down the road, stop in and say HI! We can be reached by email: vonvisser2@gmail.com or mvisser@hollandspecial.com.
