Region Seven Directors
Greetings from Region Seven! We would like to start by congratulating and thanking New Jersey State Director’s Michael & Barbara Agrati who have accepted the position as Mid-Atlantic State Directors. This expands their current New Jersey territory to include Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia. This is being done to provide experienced leaders for the members in the MD/DE/DC area. During the Region Seven Rally in Gettysburg, we held a meeting with the seven attending members from Maryland and Delaware. After discussing what having a chapter involved and all of the officer duties, they decided to form a chapter and NKK Chapter #102, the Chesapeake Travelers was born. We also left the meeting with a full slate of officers: Kelley Solsman, President; Bill Lasner, Vice President; Tracy DeBusk, Secretary; Tom DeBusk, Treasurer. We would like to thank all of them for stepping up to get the new chapter up and running. The meeting was too late for them to include an article in this issue of the Legacy. If you are interested in joining, please contact Mike & Barbara Agrati (contact information in the following article).
Speaking of the Region Seven Rally, we just came off an incredible weekend. This was our first Region Rally, and we could not ask for a better weekend. We had 44 coaches booked at Gettysburg Campground. We never could have planned this without strong support of the state directors and Bob & Jane Hadley. On Friday we spent the day at the Gettysburg Battlefield. This included a guided bus tour, film, Cyclorama and museum. Everyone was amazed at the total scope of the battles, which is a lot more than you see in the history books. Our State Directors did an incredible job with breakfasts as well as tremendous support throughout the day. Our new official Region Chef, Marc Burel, added to the cooking with a style only he has. It was great to see all the comradery. In addition to the fun, we collected six boxes of food and $500 for the Gettysburg Community Soup Kitchen. They support a faith-based program providing meals and a food pantry. Many thanks to all those who attended and supported the rally. One thing we have found over the years is that the rally is only as good as the attendees, and this was a great rally.
We would also like to recognize Bill & Monica Monte. They bought their first motorhome, a Kountry Star, last year. After picking up their coach in May, they were at their first Lakers Rally in June. By October, Monica was elected as Klub secretary. This year while vacationing in Florida they shot a video with Newmar which is posted on the Newmar website. We love it when people get excited and get involved. https://www.newmarcorp.com/blog/mise-en-place/.
We returned from Florida in early April to discover that cold weather and snow had not left western New York yet. Fortunately, nothing bad enough to require winterizing.
With spring comes the start of rally season in the northeast. We will be attending four rallies in the first six weeks of camping season. If you find yourself in the northeast this summer, check out the Region Seven rallies on the NKK events page. Lots of interesting activities. September will bring our first International as Region Directors. We are really looking forward to it. Joanne will be hosting the bus tour to Missouri Star, also known as Quilt Town, USA. If you are a quilter, this is the place to be with over a dozen themed quilt shops. The tour is on Saturday, and you can sign up during International registration or call the Klub office 877-639-5582 if you have already registered and they can add it to your reservation.
