Region Seven Directors

Greetings from Region Seven! It has been a very busy fall rally season. It started on Labor Day weekend which was a little odd for us. Since everyone camps on Labor Day, we usually stayed home to avoid the craziness. The Lakers held a rally hosted by the Dave & Karen Woodward and Paul & Kay Mayer right on Lake Ontario near Niagara Falls. The Labor Day weekend was chosen to be able to attend a large auto show in the area. Next was a New England Aires Rally hosted by Andy Couto & Christine Patnode in Foxborough, Massachusetts. We were also treated to special guests. Greg & Margie Harrop who were up from Florida. Turns out that Andy & Greg went to high school together and were reunited through the Klub.

Then we took a trip out to Sedalia for International. On the way we stopped at Bradd & Hall in Elkhart to get some new furniture. We are now better equipped for our comfort and for traveling with our granddaughters next year.

This was our first International as Regional Directors. While not without challenges, it was a great experience. Joanne had offered to host a bus tour to the Missouri Star. While there were not enough people for the bus, she was able to coordinate a car trip so that everyone could still experience quilter’s paradise. We hosted a Region Seven Social early in the week to get everyone together. We were joined by Ron & Wanda and Duane & Laurie as well as Newmar President Casey Tubman and other Newmar execs with their wives. They all stayed to talk and eat with everyone. We appreciate all the time they spent with us. On a side note, Casey and three other Newmar execs drove to Sedalia in RVs and spent the week with us in the campground. It was great to see them living the lifestyle. We were fortunate to be able to spend a lot of time with the new International Directors, Duane Paige & Laurie Hunt. Wonderful people who took the time to meet many people and listen to ideas for moving the Klub forward.

Vendor setup was a little more complicated with the vendors being split between two buildings. This required more running around and additional volunteers to keep things running smooth. We would like to thank our team leaders: Jim & Donna McAllister and Steve & Pam Freese. We could not have done this without their countless hours helping us. There were also many volunteers who stepped up to man the booth during exhibit hours and help with the ice cream social. We really appreciate everyone who helped. Last but not least we would like to thank the other Regional Directors, Ron & Wanda and NKK staff Linda & DeAnn. While we had a transition year working with the Hadley’s and that helped a lot, once we were on our own the guidance, we received from the team helped keep us on track. Thanks again to all for your help and support.

International also brought an addition to our family. While visiting the Sedalia Animal Shelter (one of the charities Care & Share was supporting) we adopted a brother for Tyler. Cody is a 3-year-old Australian Cattle Dog mix.

Our season closed out with a Lakers Rally in Caledonia. This was a chance to catch up with friends from the chapter we first joined. During the rally we celebrated both Thanksgiving and Christmas. That also gave us a chance for goodbyes as some with be preparing their coaches for winter while others are heading south. We will be wintering in Webster, Florida and hope to meet many of you at socials and luncheons being held.
