Region Directors: Steve & Joanne Wyble (22701)
Greetings from Region 7. This month we will be writing about the previous Region 7 Directors, Bob & Jane Hadley. They are from Rhode Island and joined Kountry Klub July 5, 2000. Their path to RD was different in that they never held any chapter or state offices. They served for nine years from 2013-2022. During that time there was significant growth in the region as well as several new chapters that were chartered. They left a legacy that we strive to hit as we continue to work with Region 7. Anyone who knows Bob & Jane knows that they do not like to talk about themselves, so we gathered stories from others who worked with them.
From the day we joined NKK we could tell that Bob & Jane were very good people from the respect and admiration they had from all the members. As we got to know them better, we could see their devotion to the Klub, the members and recruiting new members. At our first region rally we could clearly see two things: Bob & Jane were always attentive to make sure everything was running OK and everyone was OK; the way all the members pitched in to help showed us the great respect and attitude that Bob & Jane instilled in the Klub. February & March of 2022 was a time when we really got to know them. We stayed in the same campground with them for six weeks. This was after they had announced their retirement and during the stay we expressed an interest in the RD position. After that they spent many hours over the next month telling us everything that would help us if we got the position. They were the type of people that we can only hope to be half as good as them.

We have known Bob & Jane for almost 11 years. I think the best thing to say about Bob & Jane is they made it very easy to be NKK members and leaders. We will always remember their generosity and hospitality. Although we didn’t know them too well (at the beginning) there is one story that comes to mind. Following a rally where we both had remained at the campground for an extra day, they invited us to their site for their famous red hot dog dinner. It was one of their many outreaches to us that made us admire and respect them all the more. They became not only our leaders but our good friends as well.

We met Bob & Jane in 2017. One thing that we saw immediately was how good they were at quickly engaging new members. Always there to greet new members or greet non-member Newmar owners and talk to them about joining. He was all about the Klub and recruiting. Even when wintering in Florida they would make sure everyone in a Newmar was welcome.
Bob was definitely an old school Boy Scout. He was not a believer in any type of fire starter unless it was just a match. It came out when traveling in that he was more comfortable with a map than a GPS. This came through in communication as well. Bob was great in a meeting or on the phone but if it was done on the computer, we knew Jane was behind it.
When they got a replacement for their coach after the fire you could see the love and respect as a “shower” was held for them to help restock the coach.

We first met Bob & Jane 8 years ago at the Tampa Super Show Rally. During the show they had a meeting about starting a Pennsylvania chapter. At the time we had some land for sale in Pennsylvania and the realtor called. Selling land mid-winter in Pennsylvania is difficult so when the realtor called with a cash deal, I excused myself from the meeting to take the call. When I returned to the meeting everyone was smiling, and I was told that I was the president of the new Pennsylvania chapter. Moral of the story, don’t leave the room when Bob is looking for a volunteer. Bob knew how to get things done and his leadership was instrumental in the founding of the two Pennsylvania chapters. Bob & Jane were totally committed to the Klub and its members. You could count on the fact that they were always there for you.

One thing we realized early on about Bob & Jane was that they knew what was needed to advance the Klub and they were persistent in getting it done. We first met them at the 2017 Tampa Super RV Show. During the show we had a meeting with them to look into starting a new chapter for eastern New York. At the time we had only been with the Klub for a year and had not even attended a chapter rally yet. By the end of the meeting, we had chartered the Hudson Aires and were the Presidents. This was the first new chapter in the Klub in 10 years. At the 2018 International in Sedalia the charter was presented as part of a parade that they helped organize. His persistence was again demonstrated at the 2020 International in West Virginia. It was time for new New York State Directors and after a week of talking we agreed to take the position.
One thing we learned was obtaining feedback from the State Directors is that Bob & Jane had a vision, and they worked to make it happen. During their tenure 3 new chapters were chartered and they were the only new chapters started in the Klub during their 9-year run as Regional Directors. Region 7 and the entire Klub was changed for the better by their efforts.
