Hawaii Aloha Aires Chapter – Presidents
We had a fantastic destination rally on Kauai in February with 12 new best friends. After a welcome potluck, they scattered across the island to enjoy snorkeling with turtles and seals sunning on Poipu Beach, sightseeing in the gorgeous Waimea Canyon which is also known as the “Grand Canyon of the Pacific,” adventures with inner tubes, ATV’s and ziplines, and lots of beach time. On our sunset dinner cruise to the Napali Coast we saw whales and dolphins playing in the water. The captain said it was the calmest waters since November, and I have never been that close to the Napali shore. Some folks even had a waterfall shower on the boat. On Valentine’s Day, five couples welcomed the sunrise with a traditional Hawaiian wedding vow renewal ceremony. Between us there were over 200 years of marriage. We finished our two weeks in paradise with a Hawaiian dinner and fire show. We’d love to have folks come back and visit us again anytime we’re not out traveling in the RV.
Our mainland rally for 2024 will be held following the International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado. Rally dates will be August 3-6, we will be in Chama, New Mexico, which is about four hours south of Pueblo. We are planning a ride on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. This is a National Historic Landmark; the longest, highest, and most authentic steam railroad in North America. You will zigzag across the border of Colorado and New Mexico through the beautiful Rocky Mountains. There will also be time for off-road jeeps, fishing, shared meals, and fellowship around the campfire. The campground is now open for reservations. We are happy to announce a partnership with Peggy Schaffer from SkyMed Travel who has planned an NKK cruise around the Hawaiian Islands on February 22 – March 1, 2025. Like the fabulous cruise she planned for NKK to Alaska last summer, there will be some special activities for our members and guests only. You can find more details elsewhere in this magazine.
