So happy to be home on the Garden Isle of Kauai. It’s been very humid as we dodge hurricanes and tropical storms in the Pacific but just normal breezes and rain so far for us. I know many of you are looking forward to cooler fall temperatures. The heat wave in Pueblo during the International NKK rally was quite a challenge. We really enjoyed getting together with old friends and making new ones, and even found some great restaurants in Pueblo. The activities offered were a lot of fun and the seminars were very educational.
Our mainland rally following International provided a nice down time with cooler weather in Chama, New Mexico. We had 12 couples who rode the 64 miles of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad. The historic coal fired steam engine wound around and through the beautiful Rocky Mountains. With a total attendance of 14 couples, we enjoyed meals and visiting together, bicycling, off-road Jeeps, and shopping at the woolen weaving shop in Chama.
Everyone enjoyed time to relax after International so we will do that again next year. Our NKK International Rally will be in Lewisburg, West Virginia, in 2025. It was decided at our annual chapter meeting to have a combined Aloha Aires mainland and West Virginia State Rally. Bill & Beth White are both West Virginia state directors and charter members of the Aloha Aires and have already found a great campground for us less than three hours drive. This rally will start June 14, 2025. Be watching the NKK calendar for more details.
The Hawaiian Islands NKK cruise on February 22 – March 1, 2025, is sold out, but you can join the waitlist for this reasonably priced cruise. With 83 shore activities offered, there is definitely something for everyone. The Aloha Aires chapter is the host with Peggy Schaffer from SkyMed Travel doing the coordination with Norwegian Cruise Lines. We are planning a tour of the USS Arizona Memorial the day before the cruise departs, so plan your flights accordingly. There may also be a group luau at one of the stops as well as other group activities onboard ship. You will find more information and registration in this magazine or on the Klub Calendar.
