Chuck & Lynda Gumeson (22459)
Colorado State Directors/Kruisin Aires Presidents
We are currently enjoying a beautiful April day in Pensacola and hearing about the snow that has still been falling at home in Colorado. We left Colorado in early March and headed to Arizona. We ended our stay in that state with the Arizona Suncatchers and their rally which was held in Tubac. Having never been there before, we had fun visiting some of the sites in the area. Our tour of the copper mine was probably the highlight for both of us. Marj & Larry Miller, and every one of the Suncatchers board members really worked hard to make it such a perfect event! And the food was all amazing. We reconnected with lots of folks and met many more. That Arizona chapter really knows how to have a good time and all pitch in together to make fun memories happen.
After a visit to the hill country in Texas, we have arrived in Florida for the next several weeks. It is our first opportunity to visit this state in the Magic Bus. Then we will travel up to Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee before finishing up in Utah. Then back home to prepare for our chapter rally in Durango in June.
Our rally plans are taking shape and we are looking forward to hosting our Newmar chapter friends in Durango! Michelle & Rick Haugen are our co-hosts and they have put together a Jeep tour, an historical tour of the town, an art tour in town and a great idea for a progressive dinner. We will also be going to a chuckwagon dinner with a western show at a local ranch. As I write this, we are sold out and have five folks on the wait list. I wish we had been able to accommodate more folks at this rally, but the campground just does not have the space. We are always searching for new rally venues so please let us know if you have any ideas for us to check out!
We would love to have one of our chapter members work beside us and then eventually take over our position as Chapter Presidents. In the meantime, we are committed to doing our job as the Colorado State Directors along with being the current chapter presidents. Thank you to Nancy Witthuhn for doing a great job taking care of our chapter finances and for being our Treasurer.
Perhaps there are some folks out there who might like to host a rally, which would make it possible for us to hold additional rallies, or events each year. We always appreciate the offers to help with the rally activities and the food prep. Or is there a member out there willing to host a “ghost host” gathering? The goal is to just get together and visit, trade stories, educate ourselves about our coaches, learn more about our own state, and eat good food! No schedules, no structured plans, no organized meals, and no fees!
We are hoping to have lots of our chapter members attend the International in Sedalia, Missouri. We will plan some kind of get together at the rally to include all of our Colorado friends who make the trip to Missouri. We hope you’ll try to include this event into your travel schedule this fall.
