Arizona Sun Catchers – Presidents

We love rallies. Why? They provide opportunities to discover new places, find new friends, participate in fun and varied activities, and EAT a lot! Thanks to a great team effort, the 2023 Arizona Sun Catchers rally touched on all of these. During an informative tour of the Asarco open pit copper mine, we watched huge ore haulers make their way toward the processing facility. They looked like Tonka toys from our view at the top of the pit. A tire on display from one of the haulers gives some perspective on their size.

Other fun and interesting activities included a special tour of the Tubac Presidio, a “where in Tubac” treasure hunt, corn hole tournament, and chili cook-off contest. Participation showed that everyone came to have fun and to enjoy the rally.

Our annual chapter meeting was held at the end of the rally where the new chapter officers were announced. We would like to extend a special thank you to our outgoing Secretaries, Duane & Sandy Frederiksen, for a job well done. Their contribution to our chapter was greatly appreciated. Next, congratulations to our new Secretaries and Board members, Clint & Susie Schelbert. We look forward to working with them as well as our continuing officers, Vice Presidents John & Kathleen Behrens, and Treasurers Jim & Linda Hamann.

That rally is now in the history books and as we travel this summer, we hope to gain new ideas from other rally hosts. Marj & I are registered for rallies with the New Mexico Chile Peppers, Utah Pathfinders, Albert Wild Rose in Alberta, Canada, and the Washington State Rally in Spokane.

Those experiences will serve as a guide for our next Arizona Sun Catchers Rally that is already in the works for early April 2024. Keep your eyes on the NKK events calendar for the date and location.
