Region Nine Directors
I saw a sign the other day that said, “It’s summertime and time for wandering” ……Kellie Elmore. Our wandering will include a trip to Sedalia, Missouri. The wandering part will be all the places we will enjoy along our way including a Dogwood Rally in Osoyoos, British Columbia, Region Rally in Banff, Alberta, Wild Rose Rally in Stettler Alberta, Luncheon in Winnipeg, Manitoba, family time in Ontario, International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri, and the many things we will enjoy along the way.
The first day of summer (June 21) is the summer solstice which has the most daylight and the shortest nighttime. The name means stilled, standing, or stopped sun. A midnight baseball game is planned every year in Alaska on the summer solstice called the midnight sun game. Sunlight helps your body make vitamin D. It also gives you a feel-good chemical in the brain called serotonin.
Crickets make a different chirping noise depending on the temperature. They chirp faster when it’s hot. Did you know the plants can angle their leaves away from the sun to stay cool.
It is a great time to talk about heat exhaustion. Go over the importance of staying hydrated and taking breaks while working or playing with family or friends. Think about this while you’re unhooking your toad and setting up your campsite.
We hope to see some of our Canadian members at the International Rally. If you plan on attending this year’s International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri please drop us a line so we can make sure your included in the Canadian Gathering at the International Rally.
During a recent zoom meeting with the Dogwood Chapter Officers, we are pleased to announce that all officers will retain their positions for another term. Thank You all for your continued dedication to the Newmar Kountry Klub.
Dates to Remember – International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri September 30 – October 7, 2023.
