Minnesota State Directors
As we write this in mid-June, we are just starting our busy summer travel season. We have a full calendar, hosting our first Minnesota State Rally in Grand Rapids, Minnesota in a few days, then off to the International Rally in Pueblo mid-July, followed by the Grand Circle Special Event in late August and September. We will venture back to Minnesota for a few weeks then head down to our new winter home In Tennessee and finish the 2024 season with what has become our annual trip to Branson for the Newmar special event in November.
Summer up north has started off a bit slow, one thing I know for sure is we have a bumper crop of mosquitos. We are looking forward to sunny, warm July & August days. We have the pleasure to marvel at the amazing, beautiful sunsets over Rainy Lake, our Minnesota home. As we travel, we find so much splendor and beauty all over this great county.
As we think about our busy travel schedule and our roles as Minnesota State Directors and as Newmar special event hosts it would be easy to feel overwhelmed, however we made the conscious decision to be busy in retirement and not waste it. Just the other day we were talking with our Minnesota RV dealer about being busy and doing new things. Yes, sometimes that takes us out of our comfort zone but in the end the rewards of meeting new people and seeing new places are always worth it, creating lifelong memories and friendships.
Certainly, we have all heard the joke about RV’ing and the kids can’t find you. We would never go that far as we certainly enjoy our family time, but we equally enjoy our RV family of friends. Sometimes we don’t think the kids understand our travels and the time away. However, they do have pride that we are active and busy in our retirement. If things go right someday, they can inherit a well-used coach…
We hope that many of you had the opportunity to attend the International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado and enjoyed the fellowship and fun it had to offer. Thank you to all the directors, staff, volunteers and organizers for the varied educational & lifestyle seminars, meetings, socials, sightseeing and adventure tours, commercial vendors and new Newmar units displayed, to name a few opportunities and events. It takes many hands to put on such a quality event. We look forward to the 39th International Rally in 2025.
We are fortunate that we can travel in a luxury RV, enjoying the sites and people we meet along the way. Enjoy life, have fun on your travels and stay safe!
