Virginia Wheels Chapter – Presidents
We are now full speed into the fall season and I’m still trying to figure out how the calendar seemed to move faster than the clock. As much as we prefer fall travel, we are booked this season for sure. We departed the International Rally and headed to Kansas City, Missouri to see my elderly mother. In a few months, she will celebrate her 90th birthday and still going strong.
From there our travels take us to Broken Arrow, Oklahoma to see our daughter and her family, to catch up on the time we spent with her at our granddaughter’s wedding in July. Then over to Shawnee, Oklahoma to visit my brother and his family, a quick visit to Lawton, Oklahoma to see an old Army buddy. We’ve been friends since 1977.
Then on to Denton, Texas to our son’s house and see if they’re recovered from all the wedding excitement! We’ll also have an opportunity to see my nephew and his family. They are about 20 minutes south of our son. We may even stop in at the NIRVC facility while there to look around and see if we can bump into Brett or Angie. Onward to Temple, Texas to our youngest daughter’s and her family before heading to Freightliner in Gaffney, South Carolina for our annual appointment for our chassis service.
Then a stopover in Atlanta at the NIRVC facility to get some warranty work done. They’ve been holding the parts for us for several months so time to get that fixed. Finally, on to our winter home in Zephyrhills, Florida to enjoy the southern winter weather!
I’d like to share a story with you. Gloria & I were at NIRVC Washington, DC addressing a recall on our Dutch Star. While sitting in the customer lounge we met Tom & Lorna, one of the friendliest couples we have had the pleasure of meeting in a long time. They live in Manassas, Virginia and ordered a New Aire from one of the NIRVC stores and stopped by to ask a few questions. When Lorna saw our little Sugar (5 lb. Maltese) in the customer lounge she came in to say hi. Then Tom came in and we started talking and they were so excited it was contagious. They have never had an RV, but currently are selling their “boat”. It’s a 36-foot motor yacht and going to RV around the country. They were full of questions, nervous, excited, and absolutely a pleasure to visit. We spent close to an hour talking about all aspects of RVing and then I sprung on them, once they took delivery, they would be hearing from us as we were the Virginia Wheels Club Presidents. I think we could have signed them up right then and there! Gloria & I are really looking forward to them joining our Virginia family after they take delivery of their New Aire. And we hope they ask all of us lots of questions so they can experience the joy of RVing and the family atmosphere of the Newmar Kountry Klub.
Gloria & I wish you all a very happy Veteran’s Day, and Thanksgiving. A day to honor our service members for their personal and family sacrifices. Also, a day to be thankful for our good fortune in owning and enjoying a great RV.
Travel safe and have fun. We look forward to seeing you on the road. We can be reached at tomrezentes@comcast.net Cell Phone 804-892-7727.
