The Carolinas (North Carolina/South Carolina) State Directors
Hey, y’all! As mentioned in the last Legacy publication, our 2023 Florida excursion is ending earlier than it has the past four or five years. In fact, as we compose this article, we are preparing to break camp in Lake McCoy (aka: Hog Valley 😊) to start our northbound travels. This winter has been absolutely beautiful and overall, the temperatures have been just about perfect. We have enjoyed time with friends and family, seen some beautiful “old Florida” countryside, and even had a bear encounter here at the KOA (which borders the Ocala National Forest). While we really hate to leave, as the all-knowing “they” say … “All good things must come an end.” There are upcoming rallies for which we need to prepare, and of course, there is always “stuff” that needs to be done at the home sticks-and-bricks and at the cabin. C’est la vie …
By the time you are reading this, we will have attended our first Cajun Rally in Iberia Island, Louisiana. We have contemplated going for several years, but our travel schedule wasn’t conducive to the rally schedule. There are about half-a-dozen or so other North Carolina and South Carolina NKK members who plan to be there as well, so although it’s not a Newmar Rally, we intend to have our own Newmar gatherings throughout the planned festivities. The rally promises a TON of fun, Cajun food, nightly entertainment, and adventures. We hope to see some of y’all there!
Going forward, we are excited to be hosting the Carolinas State Rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina the last week of May, co-hosting the Mayberry Rally in Mt. Airy, North Carolina in July, attending the 37th NKK International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri and co-hosting the Region Five Rally in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina in October. SOOO – if we missed you in Louisiana, hopefully we’ll catch up with you at one of these others. Betwixt and between these, we’ll be spending time at our little cabin in the North Carolina mountains while enjoying the cooler temperatures and beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
If you are receiving the Legacy magazine (which means you are already a member of the Newmar Kountry Klub) and are not a member of your local chapter … especially you North Carolina and South Carolina folks … we encourage you to reach out to attend a rally and join the fun! You don’t know what you don’t know until you know what you’re missing! 😊
Happy travels, y’all … to wherever your Newmar takes you! We can be reached at dc3carl@gmail.com /younggrammygayle@gmail.com 704-225-7442/ 704-619-1851.
