The Carolinas (NC/SC) State Directors
Hey, y’all! Hopefully the weather is pleasant wherever you are. It’s the time of year that in the southeastern U.S. – where we live – it can be totally fickle … winter one day and spring the next! For the past six years, we have joined the “snowbird” flock, staying in Florida for the majority of the Winter. However, this year, we should be heading back to North Carolina about the time you are reading this piece.
Now WHY would any retired, sound-minded individual who owns a Newmar choose to leave the comforts of Florida before spring springs in North Carolina? Simple … RALLIES! We’ll be attending the Cajun RV Rally in mid-April (not a NKK event, but a great group of NKK friends are attending together), hosting the Carolinas State Rally in May, and co-hosting the Mayberry Rally in July! Over the years, we have learned that RALLIES are the heartbeat of this organization. Where else can you share food, fun and fellowship with friends – old and new, and partake in tours/excursions/adventures planned by somebody else? Of course, there’s nothing like gathering around the firepit in the evening, solving the problems of the world (and maybe creating a few!). All YOU have to do is show up and enjoy the camaraderie!
Now, that said – somebody had to plan said rally, right? Somebody had to find a suitable campground, arrange the various venues for meals and activities, be responsible for preparing the agenda and budget (which creates the rally fee), and coordinate things. That’s where YOU come in, y’all. Too often, it’s the chapter officers who end up hosting every rally, and that’s not the way things were intended. It is not a difficult role to serve as a rally host … or co-host, and your officer team (and/or other chapter members) will be happy to assist you. If you are anything like us, you thoroughly enjoy NKK rallies. We encourage you … no, we challenge you … to step-up and volunteer to host one. It’s a very satisfying feeling when you see your friends enjoying an event which you coordinated and carried out.
And speaking of amazing rallies, we hope to see you at the previously mentioned Carolinas State Rally in Fayetteville, North Carolina (May 23-26) and the Mayberry Rally in Mt. Airy, North Carolina (July 13-17), as well as at the 37th NKK International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri (September 30-October 7) and the Region Five Rally in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina (October 13-18).
Happy travels, y’all … to wherever your Newmar takes you! We can be reached at dc3carl@gmail.com /younggrammygayle@gmail.com 704-225-7442/ 704-619-1851.
