Carl & Gayle Webber (20143)
State Directors- The Carolinas (NC/SC)
Hey, y’all! Once again, let’s look back over the last few months. For those of you who are not in the habit of attending NKK rallies, we implore you to visit the NKK Calendar of Events (on their website) and find a rally in your home state or wherever your Newmar may be taking you and register to attend! This year, our Carolinas State Rally was held in Gaffney, South Carolina – where your chassis was built if you are on a Freightliner chassis. In addition to tours of Freightliner’s Assembly facility, we visited the Cowpens Revolutionary War Battlefield and learned the history of that 30-minute battle that changed the outcome of that war. The attending 34 members also enjoyed six meals together, two evenings of group games, a putt-putt “tournament”, evenings around the fire-pits with fellow Newmarians, and some wonderful entertainment by a local band who call themselves “Not Even Brothers.” This is just a small example of the fun and camaraderie that you are missing.
Of course, when you are reading this, the NKK International Rally will be just finishing up, and it is equivalent to a local or state rally on steroids! It welcomes approximately 500 Newmar coaches along with Newmar Service Techs, vendors, suppliers, seminars, socials, a pet contest, meals, excursions, and more fun than you can imagine. So please take full advantage of your NKK membership and get involved. You’ll be glad you did!
Now all that said, we Wandering Webbers, (that’s us) historically plan our annual “big trip” around the aforementioned International Rally – and this year was no exception. We left home (in North Carolina) June 1st to start our trek to Pueblo, Colorado – by way of Goshen, Indiana (to have our steps repaired), Elkhart, Indiana (to have our windshield replaced), Indianapolis, Indiana and Custer, South Dakota (to visit friends), and Glacier, Montana (because it is our favorite spot in the contiguous USA)! Upon leaving Pueblo, we will be backtracking to Nappanee, Indiana (to have some service performed at the “mothership” {aka: Newmar}) and then finishing up in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina (to celebrate Gayle’s brother’s 75th birthday). After three months on the road, it’s always nice to get home for a while … at least until the next NKK gathering calls our name! Yep – that’s what this life is all about. We are surely blessed to be able to travel this great country, visit friends and family, and take in all the amazing landscape, people and good eats along the way.
Looking forward, the Region 5 Rally will be held the last week of October in Brunswick, Georgia and the annual SC/NC Christmas at the Beach Rally is the first week of December in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. You can find the details for both of these on the NKK Calendar. Hope to see you there!
In the meantime, happy travels, y’all … to wherever your Newmar takes you! We can be reached at dc3carl@gmail.com /younggrammygayle@gmail.com 704-225-7442/ 704-619-1851.
