Donna Jones (20599)
Alabama Dixie Aires – President
The Alabama Dixie Aires November Rally was held in November at Lake Osprey in Elberta, Alabama and was a big success. The weather was perfect for the Blue Angel Homecoming Air Show.
We all had plenty of good food to eat at Lambert’s Cafe, “Home Of The Throwed Rolls”, Shrimp n Grits from Wolf Bay Lodge and a fabulous breakfast from Cracker Barrel. Our grab and grow breakfasts were delicious Bacon, Egg and Cheese Croissants from Lickin Good Donuts in Foley. There was good music to listen to at the Alabama Gulf Coast Music Hall and we enjoyed watching Henry & Mary Blankenship dance, along with a few others.
We also found out that our smallest member of the group, Beverly Shaw was also the sneakiest and quickest in a game of Spoons. There was also free time to tour the area. It was a wonderful rally reminiscing with old friends and getting to know our new friends.
A Business Meeting and election of officers was held during the rally. Officers for 2023 are President-Donna Jones, Vice-President-Joe Smith, Secretary-Gail Smith and Treasurer-Bill Stanley. Joe & Gail Smith are fairly new members of the chapter and stepped right up and got involved. Getting involved in the chapter is a great way to really get to know the members.
Tom Kunhart is our outgoing Vice-President, but he will continue to be involved in the administration of the chapter. Tom & Marge Kunhart served for many years as the Alabama State Directors. We thank Tom & Marge for the service to the chapter and look forward to working with them and the other officers in 2023.
A couple of members have stepped up and volunteered to host our 2023 Dixie Aires Rally. I hear that it is going to be up in North Alabama. Keep checking the Newmar Kountry Klub Calendar for the date, location and all of the fun details.
If you live in Alabama or Mississippi and would like to meet fellow Newmar Owners that live in your home state, come and join the Alabama Dixie Aires. Attending a chapter rally is an ideal way to meet people who enjoy doing the same thing you do. It is also a good way to learn from others about your motorhome. There is always good food to eat, interesting sites in the area to see and plenty of fun and fellowship.
Safe travels and hope to see you. We can be reached at pres.aldixieaires@gmail.com 352-322-7717.
