Florida Pelicans – President
Here I am living the “Simple Lifestyle”, sitting idly in my coach at Camp Margaritaville in Auburndale, Florida. So, what am I doing here? Well, our State Directors, Greg & Margie Harrop are hosting 40 Newmar coach owners [11 Florida Pelicans} here for their annual event. Those 2 folks and their assistants have done a terrific job in what they called a ‘laid back’ rally. We enjoyed good food, games, fellowship, and some very nice door prizes. We had a good number (18) of first-time attendees, which seems to be the norm in recent years. This facility may be the nicest resort we have seen in Florida.
I’m writing this now, as Connie & I are departing on the trip to the Holy Land, and I must meet the deadline for getting the article in for the next Legacy edition. I had to leave the rally early in the morning to meet for our departure.
The Pelicans held their “Leaving Florida” rally in early April, at the Upriver RV Resort in N. Fort Myers. Our hosts, Jim & Mary Kennedy, Gretta & Dave Storrs, and Cathy & Rich Queen did an outstanding job of entertaining the group. It included a tour of Babcock Ranch, the Ring of Fire show in downtown Fort Myers along with some great meals.
Many of the Flock are out of Florida for the summer to spend time with family, open their northern home, spend time visiting friends, and tour our great country. We do have members that do remain home. So, the Florida Pelican monthly luncheons will continue on the last Monday of each month throughout the summer. Watch for messages from Susan Duchesneau, our luncheon coordinator, and check the NKK Klub Calendar for where they are being held each month.
We hope to see many of you at the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri at the end of September. Connie & I will be volunteering again this year and will probably greet you upon your arrival.
We would like to acknowledge several new members that have joined the Pelicans since our last article. They are Bill & Janet Weber; Bourne & Carol Rigano and Joe & Susan Hawkins. Thank you for joining our Chapter. We urge you to become active participants, bringing fresh ideas to the table, maybe offer to co-host a rally with a seasoned veteran at a location of your choice. You current members reading this message, make an extra effort to make our newbie’s feel welcome and get them involved.
In closing, don’t forget to stay in touch with your wandering Pelicans and those folks that are important in your life. Keep in mind, things in life can change in the blink of an eye. Stay in touch, safe travels, and God Bless. I’m signing off to head overseas.
Till then Happy Trails by Newmar from your Pelicans. We can be reached at Tim.buchholz80@gmail.com Cell: 239-464-0219.
