Florida Pelicans – President
Pelicans, buddies and all our Newmar friends out there, Connie & I hope you’re enjoying each day of “hot” Summer, 2023. The heat is relentless, the rains are not finding Minnesota as of this writing.
We left Florida on June 3 and yes, the rains and heat in Florida started early this year. Stopped in Georgia to visit one of our flock, Bob & Norie Haas. Even took a hop in in his airplane while there. Then moved on to Michigan for a week, and are now settled in Princeton, Minnesota for the summer. Had a good size fish fry with family, with Walleye caught in Marine City, in the St. Clair River shipping channel. Next, I am going to attend a “Back to the 50’s” car show at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds, where there will be in excess of 12,000 pre-1964 cars on display. Biggest show that I’m aware of.
A bit of detail from my last article where I was heading for the Holy Land. The trip, the sites visited, and knowledge gained of the Bible/Jesus history and walking where he traveled was inspiring and humbling. The trip had a slight turn of events near the end of our tour. Connie fell while in a restaurant and broke her right arm at the shoulder. All this while down at the Dead Sea where yours truly wanted to get wet and bob around like a cork. After a medical ride to a Jerusalem hospital, we needed to get her home quickly for medical assistance. We were fortunate to find a direct flight going from Tel-Aviv to Miami that same night. We settled in for a 13.5 hour flight. Then a rental car and home. So, end of trip detail.
The summer articles do not provide for much exciting and inspiring news as most everybody is somewhere else. To those folks remaining back home for the summer, remember, the monthly Pelican luncheons will continue as posted online. Susan also sends reminders. So read the messages on the group site.
Connie & are looking forward to seeing many of you in late September when the International Rally starts. From there we will be heading for the Region Five Rally in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Gary Smith has all but 2 of his 100 sites committed. It should be a grand gathering. I’m working on putting together a one-day fishing trip while out there. Please contact me at 239.464.0219 if you’re interested. I hope to get something out to the attendees this summer to get feelers.
I recently talked with Gary Smith. He was making a trip to Mayo Clinic, in Rochester, Minnesota in early July for another medical opinion. He continues to be in our prayers.
In closing, Connie & I wish each of you a safe and wonderful summer wherever you are settled, traveling or however you are enjoying the “Simple Lifestyle.”
Till then, Happy Trails by Newmar from your Florida Pelicans. We can be reached at Tim.buchholz80@gmail.com Cell: 239-464-0219.
