The 37th International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri is in the books as they say. We hope you joined us. We were stationed at the Information Desk during the rally along with our team of wonderful volunteers. If you got a chance to stop by and say ‘HI’ great. It was a perfect place to pull up a chair and have a chat, if not we are always open to hear how things are going.
We have often heard that the one constant in life is change. By now you have all heard that Ron & Wanda Llewellyn will be stepping off as International Directors. Ron & Wanda took over the position of International Directors just as the Newmar Corporation was sold to Winnebago Industries. They stepped into a world of change and uncertainty and then BAM the world shut down with Covid. With grace and struggles they pulled the Klub through the turmoil, set a steady pace and kept us together. We thank them for all they have accomplished.
Since we are now part of a bigger corporation, the search for a new International Director took a new turn as well. A formal job description was written and those seeking the position were asked to fill out an application online with initial interviews conducted by Human Resources. As times change, so do skill requirements and the new job description suggest new duties. The Klub membership information was once housed on 3×5 cards in a box. Now there is an office, two full time employees, a web site, and a database that hold the information on memberships. Change is constant.
The new International Directors: Duane Page & Laurie Hunt, were selected in July, and began working with Ron & Wanda, getting up to speed on current and future projects in August. They will transition into the position sometime after the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri. We look forward to working with them and seeing where they lead the Klub.
As you know this Klub runs on volunteers mostly, and that means we are always looking for members to step up, even in small ways. Help out at a chapter rally just ask what is needed. If you want to step up further, think about a Chapter Officer position or Rally host. Not sure what is needed? Ask a person who is currently in the position. Ask to co-host a rally. Start simple. This Klub is about you the member, and it exists with you volunteering.
Another thing that you can help out with is as simple as registering for Chapter, State and Regional rallies online and paying your rally fees ahead of time if they are stated. This may seem like nothing, but it has a HUGE impact on the planning and organizing for a rally. Rally host’s need to know who is attending so they can properly provide activities and coordinate with the campground the number and location of sites needed. And often they need the funds ahead of time so they can secure a group rate for events and to purchase food for the rally. Even if this is a change from how you have attended in the past, please help out and take the simple steps to register and pay, if you’re not sure you have registered call the host and check in with them. Remember, if a rally you want to attend is full, ask about a waiting list. It is not unusual for people to need to cancel, and you may be able to get in after all.
Anytime you want to talk to us, or have an idea, please reach out and contact us. We are available. You can reach us by email at newmarkountryklubmal@gmail.com.
