REGION 5
AL FL GA MS NC SC TN VA
Hello from Region 5. Well, the Region 5 Rally is in the books, and it was a dandy. The rally was anchored around the Jekyll Island Shrimp and Grits Festival. With 19 bands, artists’ market, food, fireworks and much more, it had something for everyone. Additionally, that Golden Islands region had so much to do; we could have stayed for weeks. As you would expect from a Newmar rally, we had lots of good food and fellowship. The prizes and winnings flowed during two card bingo evenings and the competition got exciting during our Cornhole tournament. The evening weather was perfect for sitting around the camp site and catching up with old friends and new.
One highlight of the rally was the opportunity to recognize and thank Gary & Wanda Smith, Region 5 Directors Emeritus, for their eight years of service to Region 5 and the NKK. Gary & Wanda’s dear friends, Steve & Karen Burnette presented a memento from the Region thanking them for their dedication and many contributions.
Our sponsors and vendors helped us take the rally to the next level. Our designated dealer, NIRVC Atlanta brought two RV Lifestyle Team Members and two show coaches to the rally, a Dutch Star and a Bay Star. We were impressed with the new coaches – leading to several sales and even more leads. Chuck Lasley and Corey Gann from Proteng and RettroBand gave outstanding fire safety and tire safety briefings which resulted in a busy week of installations for both systems. Chuzz Redding and his team from Marble Shine Detailing worked from sunrise to sunset washing and waxing our coaches so they shined like new. We also kept Gabe Munoz and his team from Tank Rangers busy cleaning our grey and black tanks. Chris Durgin and Brett Coleman from SkyMed gave a great presentation and sponsored an awesome wine and cheese social. FCIS sponsored our Ice Cream Social and Bankston sponsored our Cornhole Tournament. To cap off our final evening, NIRVC sponsored an out-of-this-world Low Country Boil followed by singer, songwriter and recording artist Kellie Parr playing an excellent set of oldies and new songs that had folks out on the dance floor.
One thing that Region 5 Rally attendees may be most proud of was our caring and sharing operation. Phil & Charlene Budd led our campaign to collect donations for Samaritan’s Purse. Samaritan’s Purse is making a huge impact in our region providing all manners of assistance to individuals and communities hard hit by hurricanes Helene and Milton. The caring members of Region 5 raised an astonishing $16,560!!!
Equally as touching, Bob & Barb Engel of New York energized the New York Lakers Chapter, and they joined our effort and contributed an additional $973. You gotta love Newmarians!
Save the date. We have started building next year’s Region 5 Rally. We are coordinating with The Ridge Outdoor Resort in Sevierville, Tennessee. Tentative dates are October 26-31, 2025. We will keep you updated through email and announcements in the Legacy and Happenings as details develop.
Check out all the fun rallies we have planned throughout Region 5 and join us for another great Newmar lifestyle experience.
