Living in Florida gives us the opportunity to attend local chapter rallies in the winter. In February we attended a Florida Sea Turtle Rally at Santa Fe Palms RV Resort in Gainesville, Florida. It was a very nice campground with concrete pads, paved streets, and spacious sites. The amenities there included a swimming pool, Pickleball court, fitness room, walking path and gated access. We had an AED/CPR presentation and visited the University of Florida Butterfly Museum and the Santa Fe College Teaching Zoo. All were very interesting and worth a visit to see if you are in the area.
In March we attended a Florida Manatees Rally at Island Oaks RV Resort in Glen St. Mary, Florida. Island Oaks RV Resort is a fairly new RV Resort and is very nice. The campground had concrete pads, paved streets, and spacious sites. Their amenities included an arcade, mini golf, fishing lake, swim lake, sports courts, restaurant, kid’s lounge and playground, fitness center and a craft room. The swim lake was a small lake that was converted to a beach with sand that was brought in and spread along the shore. The kids and adults that were in the water looked like they were really having a good time.
In April we attended the Florida State Rally at Camp Margaritaville RV Resort & Cabana Cabins in Auburndale, Florida. The campground had concrete pads and a patio area with pavers, there was shrubbery and trees between the very spacious sites, paved streets, and many amenities for kids and adults. The amenities included a zero-entry pool with a 147 ft. waterslide, a pool for the kids and adults that just wanted to chill, kids pool, kid’s parks, mini golf, 2 basketball courts, 4 dog parks, 2 dog spas, fitness room, restaurants and an ice cream food truck. There was also music playing that you could hear around the pools and live entertainment. Also, there were planned activities all day for kids and adults. It is truly an RV resort and such a fun place.
The Dixie Aires 2023 rally has been scheduled for September 11-14, in Langston, Alabama at Windermere Cove, which is located on the beautiful shores of Lake Guntersville. Windermere Cove offers fishing, boating, swimming, and breathtaking lake views. Plans for the rally include visiting the Unclaimed Baggage Facility and Museum in Scottsboro and an old-time department store, Fant’s Mercantile and eating at the Rock House Restaurant in Guntersville. Other activities are being planned. Two breakfasts and two dinners will be provided. Once the rally cost has been determined the information will be posted to the NKK website where you also register for the rally.
Registration is now open for The Newmar International Rally and the Region Five Rally. Details are posted on the NKK website.
If you live in Alabama or Mississippi and would like to meet fellow Newmar Owners that live in your home state, come, and join the Alabama Dixie Aires and attend our rally. Attending a chapter rally is an ideal way to meet people who enjoy doing the same thing you do. It is also a good way to learn from others about your motorhome. There is always good food to eat, interesting sites in the area to see and visit and plenty of fun and fellowship.
