WEST VIRGINIA
Bill & Beth White (20471)
West Virginia State Directors
October is drawing to a close, and the leaves in West Virginia are becoming very beautiful. We have seen some cool nights with frost, but by the afternoon we are in the 70’s. Great sleeping weather.
We have spent the last month planning for the 2025 West Virginia State Rally which will be held jointly with the Aloha Aires Mainland Rally immediately following the Newmar International Rally. The event will be based in Parsons, West Virginia at the Five Rivers Campground. Parsons is a small town nestled in the heart of the Mountain state about 45 minutes out of Elkins, the home of the Forest Festival.
We have several great activities planned with some exciting optional opportunities as well. Participants will travel about 4 ½ hours north of Lewisburg on Saturday, June 14, following the closing of the International Rally on Friday night. On Saturday afternoon, June 15, we will travel to Elkins to go to a museum and attend a Dinner Theater. The Gandy Dancers Theater is a long running entertainment venue that has been providing great meals and exciting entertainment for many years. Rally participants will also have the option of going to Elkins earlier on Sunday and taking a 4-hour train ride to the highest town accessible by train in the eastern United States at their own expense.
Monday and Tuesday will be days to explore the nearby mountain towns and state parks. Parsons is located near two other small towns, Thomas and Davis. All three contain interesting antique stores and other shopping opportunities. Also, nearby you will find Blackwater Falls State Park and Canaan Valley Resort State Park, two beautiful venues with great mountain vistas. Blackwater Falls is home of the Blackwater River and it’s beautiful waterfall that is an easy hike from an adjacent parking area. Both of these state parks offer great dining opportunities.
Tuesday evening Beth will provide participants with a traditional Ramp Feed along with games with her “Fabulous Prizes”. There will also be live entertainment from local musicians after the meal.
We will leave on Wednesday morning. We’ll publish more detail about this rally in later columns.
