Indiana State Directors
The Summer of 2023 is rolling along, and we have had another great rally season. We attended the Michigan State Rally at the Detroit/Ann Arbor KOA in August, hosted by Michigan State Directors Marv & Von Visser. They had a great turnout with 18 coaches, and they offered several available activities in the area. Since we had been to the area recently, we opted to not go with the group to the Greenfield Village, the Henry Ford Museum and the Ford truck assembly plant. We spent time visiting with friends in the vicinity.
We enjoyed a Friday movie night with the rally group and how appropriate, being in the home territory of the Ford Motor Company, the movie was “Ford vs Ferrari”. Our gracious hosts provided ice cream and popcorn to go with the movie.
Saturday, we watched the morning session of an air show held at the Ypsilanti airport, from a vantage point at the campground’s beach so we could only see some of the aerial display visible over the treetops. We again enjoyed a movie night with the gang. This was a double feature starting with “Top Gun – Maverick” and followed by “Sully”. Both are totally awesome movies. Lots of airplanes on that Saturday.
Now it’s time to travel to the southern end of Indiana for a Hoosier Kountry Klub Rally at a new campground near French Lick. The campground is small, but it has full hook up sites and pull throughs to accommodate our coaches. French Lick is located in the southern hill country of Indiana among a lot of areas of natural beauty and sightseeing opportunities. Then we travel to the northern end of Michigan for a rally with another club that is not Newmar affiliated and eventually we need to get ready to head to Sedalia, Missouri, for the Newmar Kountry Klub International Rally (which is over when this is being read). And, October has us at a joint HKK – Ohio Lake Erie Drifters Rally at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio. The host is Linda Murphy, HKK Vice-President. Rally information is available on the Newmar Kountry Klub website.
Busy, busy times. We sure hope the wheels on the bus continue to go round and round….
Just a couple of useless age-related thoughts as my birthday approaches:
When I was a kid, I wanted to be older… This is not what I expected!
It’s probably my age that tricks people into thinking I’m an adult.
We look forward to seeing you all soon and frequently. Travel safely and stay safe….
