Presidents

As we settle back home and enjoy the beautiful fall colors in Northeast Pennsylvania, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all our chapter members for their support during our first year as your Presidents.

 

The Penn’s Friends rally took place from September 24-27, at the Old Mill Stream Campground, just east of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We welcomed 19 coaches, including 4 first-time attendees. On Tuesday evening, we enjoyed an Italian-themed welcome dinner in the campground’s enclosed pavilion, catered by our hosts, Mary Ellen & Ray Frederick. After dinner, we had games inside for those who wanted to join.

 

The next morning, after a continental breakfast, we visited the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania for a guided orientation tour by the knowledgeable staff. We then had a couple of hours to explore on our own before heading to the Strasburg Railroad across the street. There, we had lunch in a dining car during a 45-minute round trip excursion through the countryside to Paradise, Pennsylvania. The rest of the afternoon was free until we met for dinner at an Amish house, where we enjoyed a typical Amish meal.

 

On Thursday morning, we had a hot breakfast with many helpers on grills and griddles. During the chapter meeting, we elected a new secretary (Thanks, Lynn!). After a free day exploring Lancaster County, we had a Pennsylvania Dutch-themed potluck dinner in the pavilion. A silent auction followed dinner, with additional bidding enthusiastically encouraged by Lynn Hubler, whose relentless spirit ensured the event’s success in raising funds for the chapter’s charity, Paws for Life.

 

As our wonderful four days came to an end on Friday, we enjoyed a continental breakfast, and everyone unfortunately had to say their goodbyes before departing.

Our 2025 Annual Chapter Rally is scheduled for September 30-October 3, at Twin Grove RV Resort and Cottages in Pine Grove, Pennsylvania. Detailed information is available on the NKK website, and we encourage you to reserve early, as the deadline is March 1, 2025.
