New York Lakers – Presidents

Hello from Western New York. Since my last Legacy Magazine article, we have been to three rallies. We hosted the Daisy Barn Rally with our great co-hosts Paul & Kay Mayer. We had a great turn out for this rally. This rally’s main theme was the Olcott Car Show on Saturday. This is the biggest car show in Western New York. It attracts around 1100 antique and muscle cars from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio and Canada. The Daisy Barn Campground is a very nice campground right on the south shore of Lake Ontario that everyone should stay at. It is only 21 miles northeast of Niagara Falls. On many days there is a great view of Toronto skyline in Canada. Also, this year the owners of the campground just put in a beautiful in ground pool.

Our second rally was the Newmar Kountry Klub International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri. What a fantastic time we had meeting Kountry Klub members from all the other chapters. If you did not attend, you missed out on a great International Rally. We are looking forward to next year’s rally in Pueblo, Colorado.

The third rally we just returned home from was our Genesee Country Campground Rally. This rally is the Lakers last rally of the year. Most Campgrounds in Western New York start closing for the year and chapter members start thinking about heading south for the winter. At this rally we celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas on the same day. Our rally host Bill Nixon cooks a garbage can turkey. Bill has cooked these turkeys for years and it is the most flavorful and moist that we have ever had. After dinner we do a Left/Right Christmas Story gift exchange.
