Rally season in the northeast is over for this year so, it’s time to start planning for next year. Check the NKK website to see what’s available in Region 7 for next season as some rallies have already been posted.
Here’s the short story for this month and it’s about RV service. Last spring while parked at our campsite in central Florida on a breezy day, our neighbor told us that our full slide awning seemed to be moving more than usual. Upon inspection we found that the stitching came apart. It was late spring, and we were close to heading back to New England so, we planned to have it repaired when we got home. As it turned out the awning didn’t make it home in one piece so, now we needed to get it replaced. After settling in we made an appointment with Major’s RV in Bourne, Massachusetts on Cape Cod which is only a short distance from our summer campsite home. They’ve been around for fifty years so, I guess they know the business.
We brought it in and got the awning replaced and brought it back home. Everything seemed fine until we were about to leave for our next New England States rally in Connecticut hosted by Jim & Donna McAllister. You see when we park at home, I usually leave the slides out and when I attempted to bring the full slide in it seemed the awning wasn’t cooperating and raveling up. Seems the fabric was sticking to itself and not rolling up. A quick call to Major’s RV and we were back in the shop that afternoon. They removed the awning, and we were on our way to the New England States rally.
A few weeks later we got a call that new awning fabric was in and we setup an appointment. Major’s replaced the awning in less than a day and the new one works great. Major’s doesn’t sell RV’s although there is an occasional one in front of the store probably on consignment. If you’re wondering what the cost was for the job well, I’m not saying but, I will say that their rates are great. They refunded the first fabric cost and no labor for the reinstall of the new fabric. Major’s has been a sponsor of our welcome dinner for the last three rallies we’ve hosted and have donated some great door prizes too. We’ve included a photo from our last rally at Normandy Farms in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
So, if you’re in New England and have a problem they may be able to help you. There aren’t too many repair shops in New England especially on Cape Cod.
Now it’s getting cold in New England so, there’s plenty of time to sit down and do some rally planning. Wishing everyone a safe and Happy Holiday season.
