NEVADA MOTHER LODE
Mike & Mickey Fisher (22287)
Presidents
After taking I80 to Winnemucca, we unfortunately took the twisty, bumpy and constantly being repaired (the dreaded narrow cone-zone) highway 95 north to the Region 2/Washington State Rally that was held at the very nice Blackwell Island RV Park on the shores of Lake Coeur d’Alene, Idaho beginning on September 25th. Arriving a few days early we spent time visiting the town and recently relocated friends. We took the scenic Sunset Lake Dinner Cruise around the lake and enjoyed the great food and scenery. We were glad to have the cooler climate in Idaho. Our Boston Terrier, Bodie enjoyed wading and splashing around in the Dog Beach shallow waters, his first freshwater experience outside of a wading pool or bath.
Leaving Coeur d’Alene, we headed south towards Yuma, Arizona with intentions of attending the Arizona State Rally held at the Del Pueblo RV Resort beginning on October 6th. Unfortunately, Mickey got very sick (food poisoning) when we stopped for the night south of Provo, Utah requiring a trip to an Urgent Care facility. We decided that the extreme heat in Yuma and long ride to get there would be detrimental to Mickey’s recovery, so we cancelled the Yuma trip and headed for home.
After a 2-1/2 week break at home, we headed south for our Nevada Mother Lode Chapter/Nevada State Joint Rally which was held at the Lake Mead RV Village in Boulder City, Nevada. George & Cheryl Zellers as well as ourselves, were the joint rally hosts.
One event was an optional trip to the Las Vegas Sphere and enjoyed by a group of 19. All left amazed at their experience. SkyMed made an informative presentation and answered many questions. We listened to an interesting presentation by a Sergeant from the Nevada Highway Police educating us on the Nevada laws and requirements for RV’s and Nevada Vehicle and Operator License requirements. His candid comments and personal experiences were appreciated. NIRVC Las Vegas brought a new New Aire coach for all to tour and made a presentation reviewing the extensive services and technician expertise they can provide to Newmar owners.
We have been Mother Lode Chapter presidents for nearly 6 years, and we have decided it is time for us to step down as officers in the Newmar Kountry Klub at the end of this year. I have severe hearing loss and lower back issues that make it very difficult to function in this NKK capacity. We hope to stay active and attend as many NKK rallies as possible.
