Virginia State Director
A lot has happened since the last Legacy – the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri, the Region Five Rally in Cape Hatteras, North Carolina and of course the travel to get from one rally to the next. Add to this life events as we travel down the highway of life, and it is always an adventure.
Well let’s start with the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri. I attended the last International at Sedalia a few years back and not much has changed. But on the upside, there were a lot of Newmar coaches attending the rally and there were quite a few first timers which absolutely is a great thing. During open ceremonies each state flag is walked down the aisle and for the Virginia Flag Heather and Tony Gallo of the Virginia Wheels walked the Virginia flag in the procession.
I was part of the crew of three bringing in the display coaches and parking them for viewing. We had a relatively small area but managed to get eight or so coaches parked and set up for display. It was a bit tight, but it went well. Monday night I woke up sweating and shivering and I figured it was just an allergy thing. I had noticed a lot of my fellow Newmarians were walking around with the sniffles, etc. so I did not think much about it. The next morning, I was still feeling like I had a bad cold so I figured just to be safe I would take a COVID test. Yeah – sure enough I had caught COVID. I was concerned about giving someone else COVID so I self-isolated for the remainder of the rally. I was not happy about missing the rally, but I was more concerned about infecting someone else.
I decided to head back towards Virginia a day early and wait till I tested negative before heading to Cape Hatteras Region Five Rally. I did finally test negative – ten days after the first test – on Friday the morning I had scheduled to travel to the Region Five Rally. So, all went well, and I was able to attend the Region Five Rally. It is windy and a bit chilly, but we were at the beach, so life is good.
For now, I have no other rallies scheduled for the rest of 2023 and the only major RV event will be a trip to Nappanee for my kitchen slide repair the first week of December. After that we will go back to Virginia till the end of December when we head south for the snowbird season. Mid-January 2024 we will be attending the Tampa Super Show.
Early February we will be in St. Augustine for a week or so. I have some kids coming down for vacation and we will be touristing there, should be a great time. The only other rally I have scheduled so far is the Manatee Rally in mid-February.
Bottom line I am looking forward to getting my RV repaired and heading south for the winter and rallying with my fellow Newmarians down there. So, to all please travel and be safe – I want to see your smiling faces in my travel and hope to be able to sit and swap some lies with you. Rally On!!!!!
Safe travels to all and Happy RVing. I can be reached at beagleRV@gmail.com or 540-809-9830.
