Hawaii Aloha Aires – Presidents
Aloha from the Garden Isle of Kauai in Hawaii. We arrived yesterday to sunshine and warm ocean breezes. It sure beats the freeze they are predicting for south Texas and other parts of the mainland.
As I’m sure many others are writing in their columns, it was great to see old friends again at the International Rally in Sedalia. We had a lot of fun volunteering for the parking crew and driving shuttles. That’s my favorite way to meet new friends. If you’ve never been a volunteer, it’s easy, there are a variety of jobs that need doing, and you’ll meet some wonderful people. There were many informative sessions, as well as lots of good food, entertainment, and fellowship. Our week ended with a great trip to the Warm Springs Ranch to see the beautiful Clydesdale horses.
We had a very successful annual meeting of the Aloha Aires chapter while in Sedalia. If you’re a chapter member, please let me know if you did not receive the minutes that I emailed. We had fifteen member couples in attendance, as well as gaining five new member couples. It was decided to explore taking a cruise around the Hawaiian Islands in early 2025 for our destination rally. We have been in contact with Peggy Schaffer from SkyMed Travel who did a great job organizing the Alaska cruise this year. More details will be coming soon!
Our mainland rally for 2024 will be following the International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado. Several people made suggestions for locations in Colorado that we might use. If you know of any parks for about 15-20 rigs, please let us know.
We are looking forward to being joined by five more couples in February 2024 for our first destination rally on Kauai. We love sharing our beautiful beaches and green vegetation. The rally fee includes a sunset dinner cruise to the Napali Coast, front row seats for the Polynesian Fire Show and dinner on Valentine’s Day, and a train/walking tour of the Gaylord Plantation orchards. All the details are in the October Legacy and on the website’s Klub Calendar. Deposits have to be paid in December, so let George know ASAP if you want to join us. There is still room for two more couples.
