Pennsylvania Penn’s Friends – Presidents
Hi everyone, as we are settled back home experiencing the beautiful colors of the fall in Northeast Pennsylvania. We would like to express a special thanks to Cary & Carol Duncan for their dedicated time as Presidents with Penn’s Friends. Their commitment to the group and enhancement of the membership, along with wonderful rallies they arranged will be missed. The Duncan’s are just taking a step back in their roles but will continue to be active members in our group.
Our September Chapter Rally in Gettysburg was a great success due to the outstanding efforts of our hosts Nancy Imler and Sue Brennenman. With their resourcefulness they arranged sightseeing trips of the battlefield, tours of the museums, ghost storyteller and dinner at the Hickory Bridge Farm restaurant.
To tie into the International Rally in Sedalia, Missouri, Wayne & Sue Burke, our Pennsylvania State Representatives, planned the Pennsylvania State Rally around a caravan trip through Ohio, Indiana and finally Sedalia, Missouri with three prearranged campgrounds. This trip included sightseeing trips of the holocaust and art museums, Boone County historical museum and the Clydesdale Ranch. Many thanks for their ingenuity to pull off such a trip with over 20 RV’s but we would be remised to not thank Wayne Morris and Tom Watson for their roles as wagon master and fall gunner.
The International Rally had an extremely large presence by both the Penn’s Friends and West Penn Travelers members. The support by our members in volunteering for the Caring and Sharing, Salvation Army and Sedalia No Kill Animal Shelter proved to make it a huge success. It’s the friendships that continue to grow, and new ones established; where sitting around telling stories, enjoying a great meal or watching the fire is cherished.
We have arranged for our 2024 Rally for September 24-27 at Old Mill Stream Campground, Lancaster, Pennsylvania. We have secured 20 sites that will accommodate rigs of all sizes and the sites will held until June 1. More information on this rally will be forthcoming.
As our new roles as Presidents, we are only just getting our feet wet and welcome any and all suggestions. We can be reached at pksoccer@ptd.net or by cell 272-336-9856. Safe travels.
