Dawn and Mike Clark #24182
Minnesota State Directors
Hello from Minnesota!
My name is Dawn Clark; my husband Mike and I are the newly appointed State Directors. Our history with Newmar Kountry Klub is similar to most other members. We have been camping all our lives, and in 2017 we joined the Newmar Family. Our first Coach was a Ventana which we loved! We decided on logging more miles as we get closer to retirement, so we advanced to our Dutch Star and have been extremely happy since 2020! At that time, we joined the Kountry Klub and the Minnesota Loons Chapter. Wow, what a great group! The Minnesota Loons is currently the only Chapter in the state, established like most chapters, in 1986.
After joining, they immediately put me to work! I was appointed the chapter’s “Membership Directory Book” designer/keeper, which as we grow, has become a
busy job. At that time, Jeanette Sherek was President and Dave and Robin Abraham were our State Directors. We had some very fun Rally’s under their direction!
When Jeanette retired from the presidency, Laurie and Steve Lindberg stepped forward to become our new Presidents. After they moved into our State Director’s
position, I was appointed President of the Minnesota Loons. This too was short lived as the Lindberg’s moved on to become the Region 4 Directors and my husband
and I are now the Minnesota State Directors. Phew, as Dorothy once said “My! People come and go so quickly here!” That’s because we are always on the move and
have lots to offer our fellow members!
In 2021, we traveled to our first International Rally in Lewisburg, WV. We hadn’t traveled much in the east with our RV, so the traffic was an eye opener! What a beautiful place, one we may not have visited if it hadn’t been for this rally! Another favorite Int’l Rally was in Rock Springs, WY. Very different from Minnesota, but another beautiful area of the country. We were able to go fishing with a guide when we had spare time, what a treat that was! We enjoyed the scenery on and around the reservoir. Each Int’l Rally we’ve attended has shown us some very interesting places, taught us new things we didn’t even know we needed to know, and provided new friendships. Even in our own State, we have learned new things and met some great people! Our State Rally in Grand Rapids MN, last summer had us visiting some really interesting locations, even the Hibbing High School with its rich history, called “Castle in the Woods”, located on the Iron Range.
As an officer, I’ve been able to share my love of the outdoors and RVing with so many others. People may come and go in our Chapter, but I know we have had fun in the process. Being part of a National RV group offers so many opportunities to see this wonderful country of ours, while making happy memories with new friends.
Thank you, NKK, for the new experiences!
