President
May is history and June is here. What a fast year so far. The news of Gary & Wanda Smith’s retiring from the Region 5 Director position came too quickly. Carole & I are still in shock at that news, and not only that news, but we are also still reeling from Jim Watson stepping down as Mid-South Tri-State Director. They will both continue to be active in the Klub, and our region, but we will miss their leadership and dedication to the Newmar Kountry Klub.
We have added three new members so far this year to the Peach State Krackers: Joe & Rhea Leggiero of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Charles & Lynn Morris of Powder Springs, Georgia and Jeff & Christy Smith of Brookhaven, Mississippi. Please welcome them to our Newmar family. We hope to meet them in person at a rally soon. Maybe Tri-State in Biloxi, MS or maybe our own rally in September, just saying.
Our rally will be a laid-back-follow-on rally after Jim Watson’s Tri-State rally in Biloxi, Mississippi, which will be 9-13 September. If you plan to attend the Tri-state, our rally is just a four-hour drive from Biloxi to the northern mountains of Alabama. The date is 16-20 Sept 2024 at the Georgia Mountain RV Resort, Alabama Hwy 69 Guntersville, Alabama. When making RV site reservations call Angellica on her direct line 504-616-9342 Also Rally package includes two Coastal Mississippi Attraction Passes.
Henry & Mary Blankenship will be your hosts and we will Co-host. We are planning the usual fare of breakfasts, dinners, and lunches. We plan to visit a local museum, a Historic village, as well as a few other surprises. There will be plenty of free time to explore all there is to do in Guntersville and surrounding areas. This should be a great time of year as the season will be changing to fall.
We attended the Tennessee State rally in Chattanooga last week. Bill & Angela Manion did a fantastic job as hosts. We visited the National Medal of Honor Heritage Center, had a fantastic dinner cruise on the Southern Belle Riverboat, rode the Tennessee Valley Railroad and toured their museum, and completed the week with a ride on the Incline Railway, which has replaced their cars with new ones, and then we toured the Lookout Mountain Battlefield National Park. Ranger Jeremy provided an informative history of the battle for Chattanooga and surrounding area. His presentation was fantastic.
Each day we had fantastic food and played card bingo. Thanks to Gary Smith and Phil Budd we had a campfire and roasted hot dogs. That was a great time! We finished the rally with some very fine entertainment from Melissa Ellis. When I attend a great rally, I wonder how will they top this rally next year? I’m sure they will. Can’t wait to see what will be in store for us next year.
Now Carole & I are up at my home in Kentucky for my sister’s fiftieth wedding anniversary. Then we will be planning and packing for our trip to the NKK 38th International Rally in Pueblo, Colorado in July, then, the Tri-State rally and our joint rallies in September and of course Region 5 rally in October.
Just remember that being an officer or a volunteer in our Newmar Kountry Klub is a rewarding way to honor and serve others.
We love all of you and are excited to see you out on the road. We can be reached at president_newmar_psk@hotmail.com 770-243-0845.
