Allen & Natalie Jones (21339)
Oklahoma State Directors
Oklahoma weather continues to be weirder than normal. We all know that a light Oklahoma wind is 10-15 mph. So far this spring, it has been 20-25 on most days. You always hope your trip is going north on those days to make for some great gas mileage. We also just had our first full evening of David Payne storm tracking last night. As always, be weather aware, especially in Oklahoma in the springtime.
As we write this, we are only a couple of days away from the Region Three Rally (the article is due to be submitted before the rally). We are sure that it will be a lot of fun and would like to thank Larry & Patsy in advance for what should be a great time. If you are not (did not) attend and have never seen the Endangered Ark Elephant Sanctuary in Hugo, Oklahoma, it is worth a trip if you are near that part of the state. If you are not familiar, Barnum & Bailey circus, as well as some others, used to winter in the Hugo area. The cemetery in Hugo has some very interesting headstones from all the circus performers and other famous people.
Next up is the International Rally. This will be the first time attending for Natalie & me. As we understand, the parking is quite a bit different than from previous years. Since this will be our first time, we won’t know any different. However, for all the veteran attendees, be sure to read the information packet to understand the different process to help reduce frustration all the way around. If you have registered, you probably should already have received your packet. Ours came in about a week.
If you are planning to attend International, please drop us a line. We are thinking about trying to have an informal get together during the rally. Unfortunately, the next newsletter will most likely arrive after the rally is over.
Region Three is responsible for parking and registration, but I am sure that there are still lots of volunteer opportunities remaining for those or others if you are interested. This issue has a list of volunteer opportunities. You can email or call the NKK office for more information or to get signed up.
Our Oklahoma State Rally is scheduled for October 13-16 at By the Lake RV Park in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Natalie & I are still working on the exact cost and activities, but you can register online at https://newmarkountryklub.com/event/oklahoma-state-rally-region-3/. Please note the registration deadline.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone at future events. Safe travels.
