Washington State Directors
First, we want to say congratulations and welcome to our new Region Two Directors, Spike Kramer, and his beautiful wife Kay Warnock-Kramer. We have known Spike & Kay for several years, and they are seasoned RV travelers with a long history of exploring this great country. They are a perfect fit for Region Two and will do a terrific job of getting this region back on its feet after not having directors for the past 3 years. We hope that all of you will join us as we get behind Spike & Kay and support them in their endeavors.
October is here, Autumn is in the air, the leaves are turning, and the last of the fruit is being harvested. Autumn is our favorite time of year in the Northwest. While we had an extraordinary, beautiful summer there is nothing like the arrival of Autumn. Summer went by way too fast and attending rallies certainly kept us busy. We are just finishing our Washington State Rally in Airway Heights just outside Spokane. We had ten coaches in attendance, three of which were first timers. We will have a full report on the rally in the next Legacy issue.
We were camping at Howard Miller Steelhead Park and drove up to Diablo Dam for a view of that gorgeous green lake along the North Cascades highway when we spotted the first smoke rising from the Sourdough fire. At that point it was just a trickle of smoke coming up from the 5-acre fire with one helicopter putting water on it. The next day it was 50 acres and growing rapidly with the high winds coming down the valley. Then it was 1200 acres and they closed highway 20. Such a beautiful area was scared by fire.
It is that time of year again, the rally season is ending, and we start planning for the next season of rallies. 2024 will be a challenge for scheduling rallies with the International Rally falling right in the middle of what is an already short rally season in the northern states but with the new International Directors and the new Region Two Directors, we will make it work. Hope to see you all at a rally in 2024.
Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving and remember to count your blessings.
