The 2019 camping season in the Pacific Northwest is quickly coming to a close as winter weather is now looming in our higher elevations. Some of us are preparing to depart for warmer weather while others are planning the winterization and storage requirements for their Newmar recreational homes.
Our ‘hardy’ regional residents don’t let a little cold weather deter them however and are still planning some ‘get togethers’ during the ‘snowy’ months for luncheons or holiday events. Even though we’re one of the ‘less hardy’ ones and always head south for the winter, Klub activities are still prevalent in our lives. We love meeting up with other ‘snowbirds’ from our Region while hiding out in Region 1 for the colder months as we finalize details for events next year. Klub luncheons are held monthly throughout the southwest and we look forward to meeting Newmar owners that haven’t yet discovered the advantages of being a member of the Kountry Klub. We can hardly wait to tell people about all of the activities planned for next year!
We met a real Wyoming cowboy during a SPUR in Wyoming who prefers to ride his Mountain Aire these days and he wants to work with us to get activities and a chapter restarted in Wyoming and Montana. Meet Roger ‘Huck’ Huckfeldt , a former rodeo bull rider. Roger has some great ideas and more knowledge about things in Wyoming and Montana than anybody we know. Look for more information on upcoming events in these states as well. Maybe we’ll even get invited to a ‘cowboy’ wedding as rumor has it that he recently got engaged??
We also met with some very eager Klub members in Idaho that expressed an interest in restarting the Idaho Spudnuts chapter during our luncheon in Athol, Idaho and we will have more information on that over the winter. Please let us know if you’d like to be part of that ‘revival’.
Speaking of Idaho, Mr. Potato Head (our 2019 Region Two Rally companion) kept his promise about keeping us posted on his whereabouts during his upcoming travels and he made a few appearances on our Region Two Facebook group. He recently reported that he was making new (albeit questionable) ‘friends’ in Dubois, WY. He plans to continue his travels with Sue Stadler & Joe Murin in the foreseeable future so check the group page often to find out where he is spending the winter!
During August, we headed east in our beautiful region where the buffalo roam and the deer and the antelope play, in order to travel to Syracuse, NY for the International rally. We didn’t hear any ‘discouraging words’ because we knew that representing our Region at International was essential in order to meet other curious Kountry Klub members that will be visiting our great parks and amazing landmarks next camping season. Our travels to the far east of our country meant that we had to miss the fabulous Washington State Rally held on Whidbey Island and the Junction City, Oregon SPUR that turned into a ‘practice’ State Rally for our new Oregon State Directors because it had the largest attendance of any SPUR held in our region to date! A great BIG thank you to our Washington and Oregon State Directors for holding great Rallies!
Next year we won’t have to travel very far at all in order to attend the International Rally as it will be held within our Region at Rock Springs, Wyoming in August. Plan your travels accordingly so that you can join us for a Region 2 event prior to, or shortly after the 2020 International Rally!
With the completion of the 2019 International Rally in Syracuse, we begin our return to the west with a few stopovers in Tennessee to visit friends and a longer stop in Alabama to see the world’s cutest grandbaby (our grandson) on our way back to Las Vegas for the winter.
Be sure to keep watching the Klub calendar, the Region 2 Facebook page, and your email for more details on registering for Region Two events. You’re not a member of the Region Two Facebook page? You can remedy that by searching for us with ‘Newmar Kountry Klub Region Two’ and asking to join. Our Facebook group is growing rapidly with lots of activity, so please check us out.
If you’re not in Region 2, but would like to be on our email list, drop us a note at firstname.lastname@example.org. We’ll be sending out notices when events are open for registration as well as posting them on Facebook.
In the meantime, here is our preliminary list of events planned for next year. Don’t be discouraged if the event you are interested is not on the Klub calendar yet. They will be posted and open for registration as soon as details are available. Rearrange your travel plans so you can join us at one, or more, of these events.
