Punxsutawney Phil got it wrong this year! His prediction of an early spring did not come true, much to the chagrin of fulltime travelers like us. We left our winter RV port in Las Vegas in early April to return to our beautiful Region 2 in the Pacific Northwest. The first night out, (in northern Nevada) we encountered high winds, snow and freezing temperatures and were forced to alter our plans and stick around a couple of days as the high winds made travel unsafe.
As fate would have it though, we ran into a couple of NKK members from our region who happened to be in the same campground. We had a great time going to lunch, playing games and getting to know each other.
How did we happen to find each other? Our Region Two Facebook page encouraged the introduction. We posted where we were, they saw it and came over to say ‘hello’. We were delighted and happy to say that this was not an isolated incident. We’ve met many great Kountry Klub members this way. We also meet members by walking the dogs around the campground and looking for Newmar products. We find that our mutual selection of a Newmar RV gives us something in common to talk about immediately!
When you’re out camping in Region Two and would like to meet your fellow NKK members, be sure to let everyone know where you are by posting on our Facebook page. Wait… you don’t belong to our region’s Facebook page? Don’t miss out… go to Facebook and search for ‘Newmar Kountry Klub Region Two’ right now. Answer a few simple questions and click on the ‘Join’ button. You’ll be glad you did!
Earlier this winter, we had a chance to catch up with some of the great people from Guaranty RV, a Newmar dealer in Oregon. They happened to be in Pahrump, NV and we were able to enjoy a nice lunch with them. They invited us to stop by the dealership during our travels to enjoy their adjacent campground for a few days. We did just that in May and we can affirm that it is a great campground and very convenient for customers having service done!
By the time you read this article, our Region Two Rally – ‘A Taste of Idaho’ will be underway. We can assure you that we are having a great time together enjoying some delicious catered dinners, exploring local museums, taking tours and socializing while we make new friends! Make plans to join us next year or try one of our upcoming State or Chapter rallies this summer.
We introduced our new Region Two Kountry Klub logo at the Rally and it was very well received. A big Thank You goes out to one of our members, Steven Smith, for designing our new identification symbol and providing the necessary talent and ‘pixels’ to make it happen. We have such a great group!
Two SPURs (Simple PopUp Rallies) were held in Oregon during May. They were a lot of fun. We all enjoyed the ‘smaller’ gathering size providing us with opportunities to explore areas of our beautiful Region together. In case you missed those, there is still time to catch a SPUR in Ronan, MT at the Diamond S Campground from July 12th – July 15th or another in Buffalo, WY from Aug 2nd – Aug 5th at the Deer Park Campground. Join us for a weekend of camping and comradery. Check the Kountry Klub Calendar for more details. Keep trying, even if the aforementioned campgrounds claim they are full when you try to reserve a space, as there are often last minute cancellations.
Announcement: We now have Oregon State Directors!
We are very pleased to announce the appointment of Andy and Erin Millspaugh to this position. They are very excited to get started and their enthusiasm is contagious. Their first priority, besides getting out to meet everyone, is to get the ‘Oregon Pioneers’ chapter active again. If you were previously active in the Pioneers, or would like to join this chapter, please contact them and they will get some information to (or from) you. Congratulations! Andy and Erin Millspaugh. Thank you for volunteering to direct the state of Oregon for the Newmar Kountry Klub!
Volunteer Opportunity: We are currently looking for a volunteers to ‘rejuvenate’ some dormant Chapters in Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. The number of NKK members in these states is growing and we know they’d like to share their favorite camping spots and hobbies with each by getting together periodically. Hosting a SPUR is a great way to find other members in your area! If you have a little time to spare, love camping and enjoy meeting people, contact us! We’ll be in this Tri-State area during July and August and would love to meet with you.
The camping season is shaping up to be an exciting one in the Pacific Northwest. We invite everyone to come enjoy our big parks and great landlarks! Safe travels everyone!
