Larry & Patsy Wood (12255-L)
Region Three Directors
Greetings Everyone! We hope you enjoyed the holidays with friends and family this year. Unlike some people smarter than us, we stayed home for the holidays. As they say, “the weather outside was frightful.” We spent several frigid days in December with wind chill factors below -10 degrees and winds gusting up to 55 mph. Of course, most of the rest of the nation—even Florida—was below freezing about the same time. We are optimistically looking forward to spring.
In December, we attended a Newmar dinner at the Charleston Steak House in Edmond (near Oklahoma City). Allen & Natalie Jones were the hosts this year, and everyone enjoyed the food and fellowship. Dirty Santa gifts were exchanged, and gifts ranged from really nice to really unique! Lots of laughs!
Larry will be busy working at the Tulsa Boat, Sport and Travel Show in late January and early February. He always enjoys meeting old friends and making new acquaintances in the RV business.
At this time, a dinner is being planned for February in or around the Tulsa area by Bill & Susan Effron. We don’t have final details yet, but we will tell you all about it in the next Legacy article. Watch for our posts on Facebook.
We would like to welcome our new Arkansas State Directors, Larry & Myra Markley to the Newmar family. They come to us with lots of experience and are creative, energetic, and enthusiastic. In addition to that, they are a lot of fun! What more could you ask for? Thanks, Larry & Myra. Other newcomers are Bob & Mary Sue Briggs who have stepped up as president and secretary of the Mid-Mo Wanderlusts chapter. We are very impressed with their enthusiasm and willingness to step into this position. Thank you, Bob & Mary Sue. We know you will do a great job!
Just a reminder that the Region Three Rally will be here before you know it. We are doing some pretty unique/fun things this year in Branson at the ABC Campground. Our welcome dinner will have live hillbilly entertainment, and if you want, you can come dressed in your very own hillbilly costume. We will spend some time at the College of the Ozarks. If you haven’t been there, it is one of the best kept secrets in our region. We are also going to spend an evening attending the BarBQ dinner and outdoor drama at the Shepherd of the Hills dinner theater. The story is based on the history of real people who lived on the property where the theater is now located. Live animals, a love story, a mystery, bad guys, good guys, and burning buildings all are part of the exciting production. Even if you have seen it, it is always exciting! Another of our planned group activities is an evening at the Sight and Sound Theater. The performances there compare to anything you might see anywhere in the world! There will also be free time if you want to attend a special show or two on your own. Golfers—We have not forgotten you! There are many wonderful golf courses in Branson, and there will be one day with enough free time to play a round. Larry Markley will be the contact person if you are interested in golf. His phone number is 479-903-1327. We hope you will join us in Branson June 14-18. Sign up soon because we expect the 35 sites we have reserved will sell out soon.
Other rallies within our region can be found on the Newmar Kountry Klub website in the Klub Calendar. Be sure to look those up. You are always welcome at any of the rallies—even if they are in another state or region.
We would be remiss if we didn’t thank again all of our state directors who have worked diligently to ensure that our members enjoy themselves. Thank you Larry & Myra Markley (Arkansas), Darrell & Jeanette Wehmeier (Kansas), Dave & Barbara Burtrum (Missouri), Allen & Natalie Jones (Oklahoma), and Mike & Kathy Hutchens (Texas).
Reminder: The International Rally is coming up at the end of September. We are already accepting volunteers to help with Parking and Registration. If you have a particular job preference or physical limitations, please let us know by using Larry’s email address listed below.
