Larry & Patsy Wood (12255-L)
Region Three Directors
We are looking forward to Spring in Oklahoma. Our daffodils weren’t sure what to do this year, so they bloomed in mid-February. They had to poke their little heads up out of what looked like snow but was actually sleet that had fallen. The weather was so crazy this winter that our TV weatherman coined a new phrase, “thunder sleet.” I don’t ever remember hearing rumbling thunder and watching heavy sleet at the same time. We’ve heard from several of our Region Three folks, and a lot of them are in warmer places such as Texas and Arizona.
Rallies will be starting again in April. The first one will be the Oklahoma State Rally, and we are looking forward to getting out and seeing everyone again. We are planning to attend all the state rallies this year.
We continue to put final touches on the Region Three Rally which is coming up on June 14-18. There are so many wonderful things to do in Branson, that it was hard to decide exactly what to do this year. So, we chose our favorite things and then left a little bit of free time so that everyone could participate in their own favorites. If you have never been to Branson, be sure to “Google” to see what is available. We highly recommend that you come a few days early or stay a few days after the rally so that you can discover all that Branson has to offer. Of course, you will need to contact the ABC Campground to arrange for extra days. They will give you the discounted rate that applies to our rally. Our planned activities include a welcome dinner at the campground with entertainment (music and comedy), a hillbilly costume contest (costumes are optional; but fun is required), a tour and lunch at the College of the Ozarks, a barbeque dinner and show at the Shepherd of the Hills outdoor theater, and an evening at the Sight & Sound Theater. Golf activities are being coordinated by Larry Markley, so send him an email if you are interested or have any questions. His email is: markleynkk@gmail.com.
We are actively working on plans for this year’s International Rally to be held in Sedalia, Missouri. People are starting to contact us to volunteer for the jobs in Parking and Registration. We will need about 70 people all together. Our team leaders will arrive on Monday before the rally begins, team captains will come in by Tuesday, and the rest of the parking volunteers will arrive on Wednesday. They will have meetings and orientations and be ready to help when the first arrivals start coming in to boondock on Thursday. If you are interested in volunteering, send us an email to the address listed below.
This should be a fun rally season coming up. Enjoy your time in your motorhome. Get out there and meet new friends and spend time with old friends. Safe travels to you all!
