Bill & Beth White (20471)
West Virginia State Directors
The last three months have been eventful at the White house. After we returned from the Tampa RV Show, we began working with an architect on a house plan. Our old home has been razed, and we have a new road up to the gas well that bypasses the house site. The new house plans are nearly complete but, unfortunately, our contractor called last week and told us he has to have two knee replacements. He recommended another contractor, and we are starting to work with him.
Ramp season has hit again in West Virginia. We have already stockpiling ramps for the future. Beth has a ramp dinner for Mother’s Day. She jokes that that is how she gets her kids to visit. We are freezing some so that we can have “those stinky greens” at get-togethers this year. We had to buy new dehydrators since the fire, and have already broken them in. Now we can add them to many dishes without anyone knowing what the “magic ingredient” is. Dried ramps are especially good in fried potatoes and soups, adding a taste between an onion and a garlic.
We are looking forward to camping in our motorhome instead of living in our RV garage. We have faced several challenges getting used to downsizing from a 3,600 square foot house to our London Aire. It has been a real learning experience, to say the least. It’s wonderful to see green again, especially on the hill behind the old house, which was actually helped by the fire.
Bill recently was honored to receive his 50-year pin in the Nemesis Shrine, and Beth has been honing her cooking skills again with our church feeding program every Thursday. The new 5 burner range has been getting a workout. It’s much easier to see into the 22 quart pots without having a microwave in the way.
We’re looking forward to seeing everyone at International and are hoping to get to some other State Rallies to visit all the friends that we have missed through this long winter. Hope everyone is well and can’t wait to see all your smiles and exchange new stories….it’s been too long.
Have a safe spring. God Bless you all.
