Ohio Lake Erie Drifters – Treasurer
The rally season has started. We attended our first Newmar Rally of the season at the Cuyahoga Fairgrounds in Ohio. Chuck & Michelle Steenwyk put on a really fun and interesting Region Rally. We sure got our exercise with the walking the Ford plant tour, then a leisurely sail on a luncheon cruise where we saw the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, a submarine, freighters out on the lake, Cleveland Browns stadium, plus lots of other interesting sights, and then the next day back to walking at the zoo.
Unfortunately all the exercise calories we burned were wiped out with one lunch. If you are ever in Rocky River be sure to look up Joe’s Deli. The sandwiches were huge. I think there was a whole pound of meat on the sandwich Jerry & I shared. I still couldn’t eat all of my half. Almost everyone went out with a take home box. Just couldn’t eat it all at one time, and it was excellent food. The Lake Erie Drifters were well represented with 10 units attending the rally. Don’t get me wrong, they weren’t all from Ohio but are still members of our chapter. Thanks again for a great rally Chuck & Michelle.
Since the June rally in Gettysburg has not happened at the time of this writing, I can only say I hope everyone who attended had a wonderful time. July brought us to International in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Hope you attended and had a great time. I can tell you that Jerry & I had a great time because we have never been to one where we did not.
I know it is already August, but if you can get a reservation at Evergreen RV Park in Dundee, Ohio you can join us August 25-28 for our rally in Amish country. If you do, please let me know so we will be prepared for more rally attendees.
Our September Rally is a mid-week rally on the 12-16 at Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio. You were supposed to have made reservations by August 1, but if you want to call to see if you can get a site, go for it and let us know. If you are looking for it on the website, it is under the Hoosier Kountry Klub/Lake Erie Drifters joint rally. The Hoosier members are really great fun people so do your best to see if you can make it.
Our last rally of the season is Bob Evans Farm Festival, October 14-16. This is a terrific festival with some great crafts, demonstrations, and of course food. Call the campground at 740-446-4120 to get a site. Then of course let us know you are coming.
One last item is that we will be electing officers for next year in the fall. Start giving it some thought now as to your interest in helping to keep this chapter going and being an officer.
