As we begin to write our article this month, we are enjoying our Granddaughter and family visiting us from Dexter, Maine. Except for last year we have always made our way to Maine and enjoyed the visit. So, this year Andrew and Mandi made it to our place, in Lebanon, Ohio. (I, Bev, had to “Crack-the-Whip” to get Flash into the office alone to write this article. This was the fastest he has ever written our Konnection article. I guess family is THE motivation).
Big excitement for everyone today. As we were watching the weather forecast and making plans for tomorrow’s activities, Wx radio issued the following warning: “Severe Weather and Tornado Alert” for this area. Soon afterward the Wx radio went off again, the local Tornado warning siren sounded, and all our cell phones alarmed with “TORNADO WARNING” “TAKE IMMEDIATE COVER”. We spent the next 45 minutes in our basement checking for Wx updates, listening to the Tornado siren wailing away and torrential rain falling. And then it was over…no damages, thank goodness, two inches of rain and just a lot of lightning/thunder. Now it’s off to have fun with the Great-Grandchildren: Zeke-13, Isaac-10, Laural-8.
It’s 2021: RV travel, camping and rally time is here again. It already is a welcome change from last year. This year we planned to attend several NKK rallies and all the BKT Rallies, now we are on our way. We hope to see many of you at future BKT rallies this year too.
Chuck & Michelle started us off in May with that Region Six Rally. Nice rally with food, the “RV and Trailer Hall Museum” outing and more good food at an Amish homestead. Our BKT members were very well represented at that Shipshewana, IN gathering. Nice going gang!
Then on to the “Jill & Bob Peasley Show” in the great northeastern Ohio region called “Geneva on the Lake”. Twenty-two coaches made the long trek to that “ERIE” end of Ohio. Several new members we had communicated with last year regarding Newmar, the BKT and 2021 rallies also made the show. This was a great opportunity for us and many others to “Meet and Greet” with them and other Klub members. We are finally able to place the voices with Jeanne Abt’s Members Photo collage. Thanks to all those new folks, and regulars too, for coming out and joining us. We hope this is the beginning of a Rally-fun-Year for all of us.
We had beautiful weather for all those rally days. Of all the coaches registered for that first BKT rally, we were one of the last. Jill knew that we were coming but some of our “other” on-going issues had delayed our phone reservations….and we forgot. So, Jill reserved a king-sized concrete pad, just for us. We took some heat from several less fortunate members. How come ‘We’ rated that perfectly level full hookup site for our little 36’ Dutch Star? Now you know why…… maybe.
Jill Peasley must have thought everyone would welcome a day with change. She scheduled for all of us to play some golf at a nearby 18-hole course….18-holes? Lots of walking? We really thought she had lost it. For most of us our medical alerts were about to go off. Turns out it was a Putt-Putt Miniature Golf course. That miniature golf competition was just one of the highlights of the BKT RALLY. What a fun outing, we all laughed a lot and had plenty of fun. The owners had to put signs on 18 holes (see enclosed “Please Do Not Climb” sign) so that we Senior Citizens DID NOT climb on their equipment!!….Bummer….huh!!
(Read Pres. Rick Fox summary below for additional highlights and details).
And now to end this! It’s getting closer to our Ohio State Rally, September 22-25, Allen County Fairgrounds, Lima, OH and we would like you all to attend. At the June BKT rally we had several new folks sign up, some even gave us their rally fee, thanks so much. Please call the Fairgrounds (419-228-7141) for camp reservations then send your rally fee ($200) to Beverly. The deadline for rally reservation is September 1st but call Beverly for any late signups. We’ll make room for all who want to come. Love to see you this year for some BKT-Rally-Fun and…Please let us know you will be attending.
