Well, we did it – we attended the Ramblin’ Pushers Maintenance Session Rally at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds, April 28-May 5. The rally was attended by approximately 150 coaches, several of which were Newmars. Sixty of the attending coaches were First Timers. The attendance was lower than expected due to the high cost of diesel fuel. Two area dealerships were slated to bring pre-owned units, but both sold their inventory units prior to the start date of the rally. We met a lot of great RVers, had a lot of good food – donuts and bagels every morning, one provided dinners and one evening several attendees enjoyed a very good Amish Thrashers Dinner in a local Amish home. Ice cream was served twice, at the ice cream social when we had to clean up the left-overs. We also left the campground twice to visit “The Chief,” Goshen’s totally awesome homemade ice cream stand.
At the Ramblin’ Pushers business meeting, it was decided to open the invitation to ALL diesel pusher and Super C motorhomes, regardless of brand. Maybe next year we’ll flood them with Newmars.
We are sorry we missed the Region Six Rally this year, but there are just too many irons in the fire for us to be able to get to all the things we would like to do. We just finished hosting a rally for another camping club. And, in addition to our involvement in 5 camping organizations, Phyllis is a very active member of the University of Michigan Alumnae Club and is a high school recruiter and chairperson for a scholarship program. Sometimes we just have to slip a cog or two to try to keep up. But we do enjoy our “relaxing retirement” lifestyle.
