Many of the members of the West Penn Travelers have been busy, these past few months, travelling to destinations near and far, quiet and chaotic, popular and remote. Some of these locations have included quality time with fellow members at NKK rallies … including the West Penn Rally at Bedford, Pennsylvania, the Penn’s Friends Rally at Twin Grove, Pennsylvania, the International Rally at Lewisburg, West Virginia and the Pennsylvania State Rally at Wellsboro, Pennsylvania. Great times, good food and fun activities was shared by all who were able to attend.
Speaking of rallies, it’s time to mark your calendar and call for a reservation at the West Penn Traveler’s 2022 rally. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania here we come. The Pittsburgh Rally will be exciting and unique in several aspects. First, the dates are Monday, June 6-Friday, June 10. This mid-week, non-weekend event offers the best availability of activities, events and campsites. Second, the rally will be at the Fox Den Acres Campground in New Stanton, Pennsylvania. This campground is beautiful, has pull-thru spots, is ¼-mile from the nearest limited access highway, and it is only $37.00 per night when you reserve to be part of the West Penn Travelers rally. Fox Den Acres also provides the easiest and closest access to our destination events, Three Rivers.
Our first day will take us to the Rivers of Trade. Learn how this area became a critical point for control of commerce and trade as far back as the pre-Revolutionary period. This tour includes a stop at historic Fort Ligonier. The second day will actually bring us to the center of the “Rivers of Steel” downtown Pittsburgh. This will be the perfect opportunity to see the sites of Pittsburgh from the comfort of a bus AND a boat. It will begin with an exciting tour of Carrie Furnace (“how do they actually make steel?”) and conclude with a Paddle-wheel boat tour on the Three Rivers. In the middle we will experience “Babushkas and Hard Hats” an immigrant-inspired meal that features stuffed cabbage, haluski, pierogies, and the famous Pittsburgh Cookie Table sampler.
Our rally hosts, Paul and Joan Robbins, have these and several other unique activities planned for our W.P.T. rally. But you need to call the campground NOW to secure your site. We were guaranteed 17 sites, but the campground is willing to offer more sites to those who make their reservations as soon as possible. We are also promoting this rally to our friends and neighbors in the new chapter from Ohio. And the beauty is that Fox Den Acres will make and hold your reservation without a deposit. Sooo … call or reserve online now – Fox Den Acres Campground – foxdenacres.com/reservations/ – or at 724-925-7054. Please be advised that campsite fees can only be paid in CASH upon your arrival no credit cards accepted.
On an additional note, we have been thrilled to welcome several new members to our Chapter at the local and International rallies. West Penn Travelers has 28 members/coaches as of the composition of this article.
Roxann and I are sad that we will miss spending time with our friends and fellow journeyers at the Region Seven Rally in Maine. We love the area and LOVE the lighthouses and “lobstaah” rolls. Oh well, there are always new and exciting locations showing up on the Kountry Klub calendar and on our bucket list.
See you all on the road … maybe even next year in Pittsburgh. Keep your black tanks down, your antennas up, and a fair wind behind your TOAD.
You can always reach Roxann and I via email jyon@atlanticbb.net or by leaving a text or voice message at 814-935-4414.
