West Penn Travelers – Presidents
By the time you read this we will have already separated into two factions … those of us that must “brave out” another winter “UP North” and those that will have comfortable knee and hip joints through spring. Rox & I hope that the Snowbird travels all went smoothly and safely. We will miss seeing many of you on a regular basis and look forward to the day when our work/retirement schedules allow us to spend time “down south” with you.
As we bring another wacky year to a conclusion, it is time to make sure you have a reservation for the West Penn Traveler’s 2022 rally. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania … here we come! The PITTSBURGH RALLY will be exciting and unique in several aspects. First … the dates are MONDAY, June 6-FRIDAY, June 10. This mid-week, non-weekend event offers the best availability of activities, events and campsites. Second … the rally will be at the Fox Den Acres Campground in New Stanton, Pennsylvania. This campground is beautiful, has pull-thru spots, is ¼-mile from the nearest limited access highway, AND … it is only $37.00 per night when you reserve to be part of the West Penn Travelers rally. Fox Den Acres also provides the easiest and closest access to our destination events … Three Rivers.
Our rally hosts, Paul & Joan Robbins, have many unique and exciting activities planned for our W.P.T. rally. From an historical and landmark tour of Pittsburgh … on land and on water (paddleboat) … to stops at the Carrie Furnace and Fort Ligonier … to exquisite tastes of true Pittsburgh (Halupki, Haluski, Pierogies and the famous Pgh. Cookie Table sampler). FUN … FOOD … and FRIENDS! What more could you want?
But you need to call the campground NOW to secure your site. As of October 30 we already have a dozen paid reservations. We were guaranteed 17 sites, but the campground is willing to offer more sites to those who make their campsite reservations as soon as possible. We are also promoting this rally to our friends and neighbors in West Virginia and the new chapter from Ohio. And the beauty is that Fox Den Acres will make and hold your reservation without a deposit. Our chapter is now one year old and has grown to include 28 member coaches. We have just published our first Chapter Newsletter and are working hard to support next year’s rally and plan for more Western Pennsylvania rallies in the future. If you have suggestions for such places, please send Rox & I an email. Also, if you decide to have a “Pop-up” rally (unofficial, self-pay, self-determined gathering), let us know so we can publicize it to the chapter members via our email/listserve.
