Wayne & Susan Burke (20367)
Pennsylvania State Directors
Here we are in the middle of spring and looking forward to summer. Motor Coaches are leaving Florida by the hundreds, day by day. There is no problem getting a lot at a resort or Campground in Florida at this time of year which happens to be the end of April.
As of this writing there are 48 people who have signed up for the West Penn Travelers Rally in June. This does not surprise us, because of the agenda that Paul & Joan Robbins have put together. It will be non-stop, go, go, go….with sightseeing, boat tours, bus tours like you have never seen the Pittsburg Three Rivers area. We are so proud and excited about this rally and those who are attending.
The Hershey Rally still has some spots open only due to the fact that this rally is in September. This rally will fill up fast. Brian Hubler has set up a fabulous agenda for this rally and the information is as follows. September 21-2 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. This will be at the Hershey Road Campground and we are limited to 17 sites. Activities including: Hershey Museum and Chocolate Experience, AACA Museum (auto), Bow Creek Farm (Beef market), Pennsylvania Capital Tour/Gift shop, Echo Caverns Tour, and all the normal, food, campfires, fellowship, etc…. Rally fee $100 per person, plus you pay campground fee. Don’t miss this one!
Next on our agenda is our focus on the International Rally. Once again, Ron & Wanda Llewellyn, International Directors, have asked Penn’s Friends and West Penn Travelers to head up the Caring and Sharing for the Rally. This year we have a few charities you can choose from:
• All Things Baby: donate diapers, wipes, baby formula and baby food. Items and funding will be distributed to the Community Diaper Bank (can include adult diapers) and baby food through the Food Bank.
• Food Bank: donate non-perishable food items, including a specific need for laundry detergent and personal care items.
We will also support the Red Desert Humane Society which is a no-kill animal shelter and a 501c-3 nonprofit organization. Cash and checks will be collected at the rally. In addition, checks can be made out to the Red Desert Humane Society. If you wish to donate items, please consider puppy and adult dog food, kitten and adult cat food, cat litter, toys & treats, used towels or blankets (no sheets). They also could use cleaning supplies for the building.
In addition, we will collect new small stuffed animals that will fit in a gallon Ziplock bag for four of the local first responder agencies. Stuffed animals received will be provided to the Sweetwater Medics (EMS), Rock Springs Police Department, Fire Department and Sheriff’s Office. Checks for this program should be made out to Newmar Kountry Klub and sent to the Klub Office, and volunteers will purchase any items to be distributed at the rally.
Looking forward to seeing a lot of you in Wyoming or on the road somewhere!
